Sorry to hear that Snakes

OP- I also come from an 04 RX8. The evo is just more reliable and faster in all ways! You might miss the interior and "small car feeling" from the rx8 but thats about it! Oh and the sound of the renesis... the evo engine sounds a like a vacuum high on acid lol If you buy a new evo you cant go wrong.

Lol seems like alot of people are coming from rx8s.

The only thing right now is money like anything else. Ive worked my *** off and saved every penny for 3 years to buy my rx8. IM hoping to get a better paying job so i dont have to save as long for my evo x :P

Also the guys coming from rx8s.... i read alot of people saying they miss the connection they had with the car and that they dont have that connection with cars such as the 370z for example.

Do you guys miss the rx8 at all ?

I missed the 8 for a few months. The evo is just a better car all around and about the "connection", you will get 1 with the evo too

The thing I miss most about the RX8 is the interior. Evo X interior is pretty plain and rattles a lot.

I had a SS 2006 RX-8. It was an awesome vehicle. The handling of that platform is one of the best feelings in the world. The reason I sold it for the Evo is because I felt I was lacking the skill to mod/drive the RX-8 to the limit. I got the Evo so I could learn more about cars in general because the aftermarket support for the Evo is greater than the RX-8. Now I look to the future and I hope to buy a RX-7 one day.

To get to your power goal of 400 hp could be easy or hard. Depends who tunes the Evo and what they use to measure the power. For example, using a VD or Dynojet. I would recommend a remote tune if you think your local tuners are not qualified.

The back presure also explains why i found every piece of the valve and piston, in my intake manifold. That is the only place i found anything. The turbine blades had no damage, the oil and oil pump had no metal pieces or shavings at all. Every piece was in the intake manifold.

As for the tow company, they havent paid for anything and im done deal withing that ****. The dealership quoted me $14,000 for the replacement of the tcase and rear diff. I ripped apart both and the tcase is ****ed but the rear diff has no damage at all. I can send my tcase to Jacks for $1500 and have it rebuilt/upgraded. I leave tomorrow for a excerise with the army, come back then go on a 3 month course. So im not going to waste time and money on going to court over 1500. But trust me, the tow company is not getting off that easy....
1) ORLY? Interesting to hear.
2) tow-company mother-*****es!

Putting that GI Bill to work, eh?? Technically speaking, if you go to a Community College, you could probably afford an even more expensive car depending on which GI Bill you receive. A family member of mine was receiving close to $2k a month just for going to college.

I test drove one and loved it. I have also driven the rx8's. I think you'll be
very happy with the Evo coming from the rx8. My opinion, stay around
330 to 375hp with the evo. Won't have to get into E85 or turbo upgrades.
And she'll be plenty quick enough while your in school.
Where were you able to order a 2013 GSR? I thought they hadn't made it available?

I know how it is.... you can never have enough power. But i truly think 400 whp is the most illl need. I mean with my rx8 now with a basic intake and exhaust and basic bolt ons i still find it decently quick. And its worlds away from 400whp lol

I just ordered one at our local dealer. They actually already had one on order.
It was the right color and had everything I wanted but nav. Which it was still
early enough to add it on. It's not supposed to be here until Nov 11th. But they
said it could be in October. They didn't even have a vin for it yet. But if that
one wasn't what I wanted they could have ordered what ever I wanted.
Just would have taken a bit longer to get.

I understand what you mean about tuners in Ontario. I'd suggest either e-tune or possibly Innovative Tuning in Buffalo. (I ended up going with the AP.. Cobb's OTS maps are fairly decent, and when I can do a proper tune, I will.)

Given the cost of 400whp (more than just simple bolt ons) and reliability concerns, you may want to consider setting your goal to 350 whp. Still pretty dam respectable.

Any chance you can put more down? The ridiculous CDN taxes and freight will eat most of that money, so now you are left financing 90% of the car value. Given you'll have high monthly payments, money spent on mods, and a big debit out of school, you may find it all unaffordable. And if you have to sell in a year or two, with depreciation, you'll owe money on a car you no longer own!

Not trying to discourage you, just trying to point out what generally gets overlooked. If you can live with the loss.. then don't think twice! Since EVO 8/9's are not readily availabe in Canada, in my opinion, the X has the biggest bang for the buck of any car.

True story. My buddy at the time had and still has a last gen RX-7 twin turbo. I believe it is the last year they made them. It is Red with sunroof and tan leather interior. Gorgeous car. Anyways he blew his motor. He paid and sent it to a Rotary shop in Dallas and had a new motor installed. Anyways he thought he then blew this new motor.

The car sat for almost a year at his house. I totaled my car (not at fault) and was paid out for it for about $5k. I was interested in buying his car but new I had to factor in a new motor. He wanted to sell it to me for $4k which would push me over the limit so I decided not to. Turned out all that was wrong with the car was a bad vacuum hose. Could have had a sweet RX-7 for only $4k. Live and learn I guess.

For me the GI Bill will only pay $1500 a month no matter if I go to community college or not. But if you go to community college your GI Bill will last longer since the monthly amount is paid from a set amount.

And I did go the community college route. I already finished my Associates and currently working on my Bachelors and will start at A&M next semester. Then when the GI Bill is used up the Hazelwood will kick in.

No not at all. I understand what you mean and i thank you for your advice. This is why im trying to get a better paying job at the moment and see how things are down the road.

As for the down payment i will definitely put down at least 10 grande ... which is basically what i will get for the car once i sell it. I will probably add a few grande to that as down payment if im little more financially stable at the time. We'll see how things go ... as for now every single day i dream more and more about owning an evo lol.
