easing off clutch
Yeah I did to..this is my first stick as well...I did put in 15 mins of practice on my buddys s2k the night before tho but he didnt try to teach me or anything...
Whenever I try to teach a girl how to drive stick I always explain it the same way. I tell her it's just like sex. First rule, you have to ease into it until you get experienced. So starting at a stop with the car turned off, I explain to her how she must get turned on first (obviously). the next step is a little foreplay which is accomplished by getting used to the revs and how fast the RPMS move. Next it's time to engage. You have to put the "clutch" in otherwise it won't work. So you push the clutch all the way in :giggity: and slowly push in the pedal. Make sure to not push in so hard, she wants it to be passionate. Then you need to slowly release the clutch (or pull out) and then you will finally start getting it on. Once you are moving, it's all repitition

Posts like these is why I love the internet.
When I taught my fiance to drive stick (my 240SX) I reached over like I was going to "grab" her and pulled her leg off the clutch to stall the car. Got her attention when I said you see.. nothing quite like doing a little wrong before doing the right thing

She got over her fear of stalling the car that way and I got a feel out of it...
win-win

That's what I was wondering... Gridlock maybe?
Stalling just feels like hell it doesn't really destroy your car. I'd rather that happen the wind the car up while roasting your clutch.
I must have done a good job with my girl because she is straight up hard core manual now with her Nismo 350Z
And won't drive anything that's auto.
