Help! vibration on decel only when in gear

I have an 08 evo mr. The car drives very well except for at 3200 rpms in 6th or 5th when off the gas completely and decelerating, I get a vibration in the steering wheel. When at that consttant speed with foot at constant pressure or acceleration there is no vibration. There are no exhaust mods although the previous owner modded the car.

mods = upic, fmic, aem intake and 3 port grimmspeed

thanks in advance.

hmm, off-throttle.

Well it wouldn't hurt to have wheels checked to make sure they aren't bent, and check balance. Might not hurt to just have a tech do a shake down for loose/broken components while it's having the wheels checked for balance.

hopefully it's just a wheel balance issue

When ground-speed dependent, that symptom is often caused by a bad CV joint. When it's engine-speed dependent, as you're reporting, it's often the clutch or the exhaust. I don't know enough about MRs to say how to go about diagnosing this. But you can at least check the heat-shields on the exhaust and make sure the downpipe is rubbing on something.

idk about the evos but the ralliarts use the same engine and at 2500 rpm the engine has a natural vibration. it can be felt through the steering wheel but its faint. so is it a heavy or light vibration?

Yep. My 08 GSR hits a resonate frequency at around 3000, which is why I suggested looking at the heat-shields and downpipe.

I'll check the dp. It's faint. Barely feel it in the steering wheel. The old owner has mods on the car, so I'll look at the exhaust and heat shields. Thanks
