Turboback Exhaust Setup
It kinda didnt make sense that ETS says they put the bend in so it doesn't rub. So they are saying all the companies that made straight test pipes knowingly made a flawed product that rubs? I would think the straighter the flow of exhaust the better anyways.
The factory also has a bend. Here is a picture for reference.

Hope this visual helps out a little. You can fit a straight pipe, but it may rattle and vibrate against the drive shaft shield/bolt.

I run a ETS Downpipe with a MAP test pipe and an Invidia Q300 catback and i havnt had any problems with fitment, the only problem i had was when i put the invidia catback to the stock cat the heatshield wouldnt let me fit the gasket on properly but now i run the testpipe and i dont have any issues with that. I'm not sure if that helps but figured i would throw in my 2 cents.
EDIT: also you cant go wrong with either company but personally i like ETS kudos to them for thier pricing and amazing products

So these other companies like UR and AMS and others that make the test pipe with no bend are intentionally making a product that rubs the drive shaft? That seems odd. As far as the factory having a bend. They part doesn’t matter so much as we know the factory doesn’t always do things to extract the most power. That’s why we go aftermarket.
BTW I have the ETS intake and love it so this isn't anything about ETS vs Anybody else. Just it seems illogical that companies would make something knowing it would rub when they can easily make a bend.
Anyone with the straight pipe have problems with it rubbing?
I was planning on UR for the Test pipe since my exhaust is UR and because it's cheaper than the ETS (Gives me more money left over to get the ETS 4" intercooler kit!
But if it rubs I guess I will be forced to spend the money on the ETS test pipe. Then no ETS intercooler. Sorry ETS. LOL Kidding

I will be receiving the Test Pipe on saturday and already have the Downpipe and exhaust. So should/hopefully have it installed by Sunday and will post my results after i put it all on.
I am currently rocking the AMS turboback and absolutely love it. The quality of all the pieces are second to none. The sound that it produces is just perfect. Quit under normal driving and aggresive under load. I would definitely recommend their system and on the plus side, the guys over at AMS are extremely friendly and helpful.
It's all good to me everyone has a choice on which parts to go with. I'm just providing a little information as to why we do what we do. haha. I think the reason most build a straight test pipe is to build a test pipe with two compound bends is not cheap and not easily reproduced. You can't really bend it up and have it fit correctly, the straight pipe with angled flange is an easier approach, but as you can see from the picture above it does come close. So you may have vibration or rattling issues.
