I had a 06 Civic SI 2 cars ago (lol, that sounds funny), and I can safely say that the ride definitely isn't like my old BMW, but it definitely is very comparable to the Honda. Especially coming from a BMW, I was expecting myself to be miserable (give myself the lowest expectations). Honestly, the Evo is a hoot. I LOVE it. Zero complaints, and the ride is just fine. I was also modded on the BMW, so that was probably why it was no biggie. Seats are great.

I opted for the SS package. Worth it for the excellent out of the box HIDs. The sound system is pretty decent, but I'm gonna swap out stock unit for an aftermarket navi. The FAST key is a bit ghetto - you have to turn a fake key to start the car. Weird.

I would get the SS package just for the HIDs. Sure you can retrofit tl projectors & install aftermarket HID ballasts, but it's never going to have the stock feel. You will not be able to adjust the levels from inside the cabin. If I had known how much of a hassle it was going to be to put HIDs on my GSR, I would have went with a MR.

And why would anyone lease an evo?

I wasn't thrilled with them at first but they ended up giving me the best price by a big margin too so I'm happy. Called the one on 46 and they gave me a crazy high quote telling me the car was $3,000 more cause they had to get the color I wanted from another dealership.

Yeah, I had a 328i xDrive for a few months and loved it. Not fast enough though. If the 335 was just a little cheaper, I might have gone with it. I test drove an Evo with the fast key and yeah, it's weird. Not sure why they didn't just make it push button start. Still nice to be able to keep my keys in my pocket though. Happy I went with the SS package.

Why lease? Many reasons....

Moving to Manhattan in 2 years and will not bring a car with me. My lease is 2 years which is perfect. I can drive this car as hard as I want and give it back 2 years from now as opposed to owning it and worrying about babying it all the time. Also, even though I am not going to own the car, my payments are less than half what they would be if I was financing. The Evo isn't any different than anything other car IMO as far as why or why not to lease it? Not to mention I don't have to worry about any maintenance or anything, besides a few oil changes. As far as moding, I have no interest.

Ok if you are not modding then I accept that as an argument for a lease, but I really don't see why someone would by an evo if they weren't planning on modding.

You don't think the car is fun stock? 300HP and and amazing AWD system is what sold me on this over leasing an A4 or 328i. I also love the aggressive look of the car as well as its uniqueness. Every other car on the road is a 3 series or A4. I don't even know the last time I saw an Evo X on the road.

If you were planning on keeping it stock, why didn't you get a 335i?

Low 13's stock, traps like 103-105, comfier, more luxurious, etc etc.

335 comes out to a lot more $ than an Evo GSR. I made several trips to BMW and got several quotes. I would have had to settle for the 328 and I wanted something slower. Not to mention I need AWD which brings the 335 price up even more. My next car will be something along the lines of a 335 but the Evo fits me best right now.

I have a 335i and in stock form they are fun cars with just a Cobb access port you can make good power and it can be removed easy and it's undetectable from the dealer once removed.

Below is my step by step dyno charts just for reference. I'm a big fan of the Evo X. we have one for a shop car and I want to pick one up as a personal car as well. I don't think you can lose either way.

I love BMW's and the M3 is definitely the number 1 car I want. In my price range though the Evo just made more sense. I think the Evo is gonna be tons of fun even if kept stock, regardless of what others think. I'm going from front wheel drive 200 hp/142 lb torque to 290hp/300tq all wheel drive. Granted the Evo is a lot heavier, it is still gonna be a huge upgrade for me.

Evo X

I had Scion FR-S, 135i, 350Z prior for Rwd cars, they are fun, Drift and dif style cornering, but when you want to go, you want to go! Nothing like Awd hooking and Moving!! Nice not having to feather throttle or let off for traction. Also if you get snow, another for Evo all Weather FUN !!! It is odd BMW didn't do an LSD for 135i/335/535 esp w/ like 300TQ at only 1500rpm range, one tire fire But for a fun lux / great Power, that twin turbo inline 6cyl BMW engine Rocked ! Talk about no turbo lag

Good Luck!!

What did you think of the FR-S? Awesome looking car just sadly under powered. Yeah, the Evo looks amazing in the snow. So it looks like the cheapest snow tires for the Evo are not cheap at all. Contemplating if it's worth it for me to buy them since I will only have the car for 2 winters.

Looks like we're in the same boat... even though I only had a 128, it was still a BMW and drove like one. I miss it. M3 is looking to be my next car... way way down the road. I see the Evo as preparation for driving something crazy - both need more attention to maintenance, both get sucky gas mileage, increased insurance, etc.

From a FWD car, the Evo will feel like a Ferrari. When I changed from the SI to the 128, it was night and day. Power and handling, even stock.

Enjoy the Evo! I have zero regrets with mine. Loving it!
