Buying first Evo soon
Personally I think the value of the SS package is FastKey setup. It's definitely too expensive to add to the car after purchase. It is a little ghetto, but it's very handy when opening the doors and not needing the key.
The HIDs are nice too, but the sound system really could be added far less of a cost, especially if you're not getting the OE navi set up too.
I totally love the Sun and Leather package though. The leather is high-quality top-grain and sunroof is hit or miss depending on the person. It is a lot of weight to add to the car though, and you'll see it impact performance a little.
Side note, the 2013 328 is a turbo I4 now. They drive amazingly well, and still priced less than the I6 - TT the 335 has.
With all Evo vs. BMW comparisons I think the best way to look at it is like this. With the BMW you'll have a more comfortable driving experience with higher quality interior and sound. With the Evo (even with leather), you'll have more performance and less quality put into the interior of the interior.
You really just need to ask yourself if your eventual plan is to stay stock, which makes the two very similar in performance, but a slight advantage going to the 335 in overall marks, and overall costs. However, if you plan to mod, you'll see a lot more bang for your buck with the Evo.
With either...you can hit up ETS for mods ^__^

SS was a must for me. Please don't buy an aftermarket HID kit and install it in the factory halogen headlights. Do it right and purchase projector headlamps or retro your halogens. Every time I see a car with hid's slapped into halogen lamps, I can't help but cringe.
I second the 2013 328i... that was the other car on my tiny list, as was the A4. Needless to say, it's obvious which one I ultimately went for. The 328i turbo is indeed fantastic, does makes great power, and is also very tunable. Shrug. Stock for stock, Evo is better.

On another note, I don't know anything about forced induction but I'm sure I'll learn a ton now that I have a turbo vehicle. What is everyone's take on blow off valves on the Evo X? Bad idea if all else is kept stock? Of course, I just simply love the sound. I test drove an STI the other day and fell in love with the entire overall sound of the car, especially the loud blow off valve.
Get an intake you will hear the BOV and spool alot more. You dont need to touch the stock BOV until you have a turbo that runs over 30PSI....stock BOV is more than enough for stock turbo. Do yourself a favor and buy a COBB accessport and get that stock map off...its terrible. I also came from a type-s....got a 2011 GSR fully loaded with leather recaros...sick seats.
So I am gonna lease a new Evo next week. Just sold my RSX-S that I've had for 7 years since new... I'm sure the Evo is gonna be worlds different for me than my type s. What do most people think of the Sight/Sound package?? I def need a good stereo and HIDs are also important. Is the SSS Package stereo REALLY good or just good? How about the HIDs, are they of high quality, and do they have good projectors? How are the non-leather seats for long trips? They don't look comfy but im assuming they can't be any worse than the leather racing seats in the type-s also. Last question is how rough is the ride in the evo? So many review videos state it's a rough ride. Sorry for all the newb question and in the future I will search for answers, just figured anyone with the SS package could pretty much quickly answer all of these for me. Can't wait to get my Evo!!! Thanks!
Ok, so got the car today. First impressions... car is not that rough at all. By reading posts by many I expected the ride to be a lot worse. I drive a BMW x3 and 3 series regularly and still do not think the ride is bad at all. SS Sound system is decent. Expected it to be a little clearer but I am already used to it. Anybody else have this issue but it seems like the Bluetooth only plays through the front right speaker?? The stereo plays fine through all speakers. HIDs are well worth the money. Very cool how you can adjust their level and also that they aim into turns, just like on BMWs. Shifting seems VERY notchy. Anybody else experience this? Maybe it needs to be broken in? My RSX shifted much smoother. All in all, I absolutely love the car. I couldn't possibly be happier with it!!!
Mitsubishi says Bluetooth is only supposed to play through the front right speaker. Don't quite understand the rationale behind that but not a big deal. As far as the shifting, its very difficult to even get the car into 1st or reverse some times. Anyone else experience this? Does the shifting get smoother as the car is broken in?

There's a sticky on the transmission.

I think having a heavier shift knob will help with shifting. I have just over 6k miles on my car, and it's not any smoother. Congrats on your purchase!

Also, the cold weather does factor in even more so with the Evo in regards to the transmission. I do find that after driving a while, it's a bit easier to shift. I would second the heavy knob - I had one on my SI, and it really helped smooth out the shifting. It was notchy as hell in that car too. BMW was so rubbery.. so different haha.

GSRs are known to be notchy, there are threads on how to address it with bushings, fluids and a shifter.
Yeah the bluetooth works perfectly fine and I can hear, just thought there was an issue with it.
As for the notchyness, it doesn't even bother me much, I would just worry about it causing future transmission problems.
Been so busy I haven't even had a chance to take pics yet. Will post some very soon! I love the passion everybody has for the Evo. Even after this model being out for years everybody still wants to see pics of a new stock Evo....love it!
