DTC - B223D Fix (A bit more complicated than usual)

Hello everyone,

We have a customer here in EU with a car that was purchased from the USA. The cars seats were stolen during transport, so we don't have the original airbag module that was under the initial seats. The second problem is the dealerships do not have a way to recalibrate the occupant weight sensor as the EU cars are not equipped with one of those...

Is there any way in hell to disable the P223D?! Getting seriously annoyed here.

There is got to be a way to trick the system. Search member with after market seat since they don't come with weight sensor

I think even with after market seats people transfer the weight sensor over.

Is there some kind of relay that you could use?

I remember there is a cool little tool that some people are buying to turn off the TPMS light. I wonder if you could use it to disable any airbag lights..

I've seen the wire in a resistor to trick the seat into thinking the sensor is still there.

I may have the sensor, if that would help.

Without the OCM from under the passenger seat, I think you may be out of luck solving this in a conventional manner. But you may be able to disable the entire system using the ETACS programmer for a Citroen or Peugeot. This is how people in the States disable the TPMS, DRL, etc, on Evo Xs. It may have options for SRS, too.

The device you want to do this is: http://dx.com/p/pp2000-obd-ii-scanne...119974?item=20 It is often just called a "Lexia" by those using it to alter settings on cars it wasn't designed to be used on.

A thread discussing what you do using a Lexia is here: http://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/mit...ization-40223/ I see nothing on SRS, but I don't have one of these gizmos in my hands. The guy to ask is known as Vadimus. What Tephra is to the ECU, Vadimus is to ETACS.

Good luck. You're in for a rough time, I'm sorry to say.

I actually have Lexia, just not the software yet... And I've considered that as an option but I'd not like to disable the system as that would possibly mean the airbags would not deploy in case of an impact which is completely unacceptable.

Well, without the module from under the passenger seat, the system will never work. With that module, the resistor trick will work for the seats, themselves. Looks like time to hit eBay or find someone who has gutted their X and will sell you the module.

We might have misunderstood each other here. I have the module - but it's from a different car and I am unable to reprogram it. The module is physically there though.

Oh. Sorry. I totally missed that. But do you have the original brackets for the seats? The passenger side has weight sensors and the driver side has a position sensor. Do you have these and their harnesses?

I'm assuming that you still have the yellow connectors for the seat airbags. They get "shorted" through 3.3 Ohms (1 watt minimum), but I'll bet you knew that already. I'll bet that the problem is the weight and position sensors. Then you just need a reset (in theory).

We already solved the airbag sensors in the seats... The error now is - weight sensor passenger side - like you said. But EU cars don't have that - hence I can't get it reset at a dealership so I'm looking for an alternate solution.
