Squeaky noise when idling

So i've been noticing this more and more on my car and after doing some research and not being able to find anything i decided to ask. I purchased my 2012 GSR in March, I currently have 16k on it *its my daily * and I hear this weird inconsistent squeaking when i'm idling. I clearly notice it when I park it in my garage. Around the 10k mark I noticed when I turn the car off it makes this squeak noise. thought it was the intake at first but i have no idea.. just wanted to ask around before I take it to the dealer. the car runs just fine and feels solid but this was just buggin the hell out of me since it came out of nowhere.
i found this on evo x forums http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61854
thats definitely what it sounds like as im idling but not that extreme at all.. i hear it for about a few seconds.. then it stops and then continues. could it be the belt? water pump?
when i stick my head in the bay as its on it sounds like its coming from the exhaust manifold/turbo area..
so anyone having the same issues?

I bet it is a pulley, are not the belt, though I am a little surprised given the mileage. The pulleys are a weak point as they are made of plastic and do wear. If you do some research you can find that many (including ours) replace the pulleys with those from Hyundai, as those are made of metal and will wear better.

You can try just replacing the belt but, if it doesn't work, you'll want to go back in and change the pulleys too, might as well do both once.

With only 16k miles on it, high chance it is the pulley like Johnr352 said, also check your tensioner as well. I had the same issue with my MR and just decided to get lighter pulleys and put less strain on the engine as well. But yea the OEM pulleys are crap! Its really a quick fix.

Should be a sticky... Thanks. Note, the tensioner pulley can be changed as well though it takes a little finagling.

One of the unfortunate details Mitsu didn't pay attention to. The Hyundai pulley's are a much nicer piece, although under rare circumstances I've heard a squeak out of mine(2-3 times I'd say) which I'd probably point more towards my belts. My noises decreased significantly after switching over. Hope this helps OP!

I have the same problem, but only when it rains or if it gets wet. I hoping to get it home at the end of the month and park her for the rest of the year. Any idea what it is?

It's probably a pulley most likely, cars under warranty get it checked out, do not pay them for this!
