General Tuning Questions

Tried searching and couldn't really find a definitive answer. I'm completely 100% brand new to tuning and have the following modifications in mind:

TBE (minus downpipe)
SRI
UICP
Dual Port BOV
3 Port EBCS

With just TBE / Intake / BOV how much would one expect to be sitting at AWHP wise? I looked around at different dyno results but couldn't find one that just had Intake / TBE / BOV.

Also...

What all do I actually need to get a pro tune so to speak. As in what all aftermarket parts would I need for them to adequately and safely tune the car without any issues? Do I need an AEM EMS or some sort of ECU monitoring tool or a Tactrix cable? Or can they do a pro tune with just the above stated modifications and no real ECU tools?

I guess the main question is what all do I need to have installed / on hand at the time of the tune to really get the best / safest tune?

And what should I tell them to tune for? I've read 11.3-11.8 : 1 AFRs? And I'm going to assume that, those are under load / max boost, with idle being around 13.5-14.3?

Thanks a lot for any insight!

I think you would learn most of you need to know with a couple of quick searches.

Pro Tune is a tune by a professional tuner. You'll want a Cobb AccessPort or Tactrix cable, but you should find and discuss with the tuner first, to find out what they are using.

If you use a good shop with a tuning facility, they can install your mods and then tune the car. You need to provide the car, the mods (unless you order them through the shop), and then just let them do their magic. Always a good idea to meet the tuner and discuss what type of driving you do, what you are interested in accomplishing, etc. Most good shops will require this discussion anyway.

The afr's are about right - though smarter people than I am can provide you with some more specific guidance here. Again, the tuner will provide you perspective relevant to your car, location, fuel and mods.

As for the mods you list, I suggest more research and set some ultimate goals for the car to help guide your mod decisions and what order to get things done. You will change your list a bit.

As for WHP, too many variables to accurately guess but I suspect you can go to the Dyno threads and find MANY posts for people with similar mods to get a good idea of power.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I don't have many crazy modding plans, I might even just settle for just intake and exhaust in the end since that really meets the goals I have set up. My main question was just finding out what mods were REQUIRED before tuning (ecu related stuff).

Do turbo back exhaust, and either an intake or performace panel filter. That would probably be good for your needs along with tune.

Me I did a drop in filter & had a ecu tek flash done by a pro tuner. Do that 1st because the car is a monster after a flash. Expect 25whp with no other mods.
