Buying New Evo, MR or GSR

I am about to buy I new Evo. I currently have a highly modified 2005 STi and I need something a little more practical and classy. I am leaning towards the MR. I am wondering how the transmissions hold up. The sound of the stock exhaust is a little to tame for me plus the stock hp isn't what I would like it to be. My STi put down over 400whp. The most modifying I would do to the Evo would be stage 1 or maybe Stage 2. I think a simple exhaust, intake, boost control, and tune would do the trick. So how does the transmission of the MR's hold up to modifications?

I bought an MR in August and love it. I find it classy and practical and I love how quickly the SST changes gear when you want it to.

From what I've read the stock SST is fine but you just need to be careful on torque numbers unless you get new clutch packs.

+1 idk if they fixed the overheating problem in the newer MR trans but i would look into upgrading the oil cooler everything is fine I have a friend that has a 450whp MR on a completely stock trans plus the oil cooler i think he has over 70k miles on it and its doing great

In my opinion the GSR is the way to go but everyones different

Not going to lie, you want something "classy", the VW R takes the cake. Way nicer interior and overall drive compared to the MR. I didn't buy my car because I wanted something "classy", i bought it because it's bad ***.

Evo is not my definition of classy. Lexus IS, Acura TL etc is classy and comfortable.

I went from an 05 AW STi with a little less power, but fully done suspension, to an 11 X GSR. I miss the 6spd and the exhaust rumble, that's about it. The X vastly out-handles the STI (with n00b track skills)

I've driven an MR, it's awesome. For what you intend to do, the SST is a great way to go, however for me I missed the emotion I feel when I drive, so I had to have the 3rd pedal under my feet.

Guys guys. We all know that if you want a better car than a X, you need to get a TT RS

I would just get the fog light delete kit. The stock fog lights block 50% of the air going to the trans cooler. I have the fog light delete and I've never overheated.

I bought an MR. I do miss the stick here and there but living in NYC traffic is no joke. MR is more practical for often street use as you will encounter traffic everywhere unless you live in the middle of nowhere.

I wouldn't push more the 350WTQ in the MR. I don't really think you need more than that in this car anyways regardless of trim. Unless, by certain, you are a dyno/numbers *****.
