Stupid Questions Thread
Stupid Questions Thread
Some forums have this thread stickied where new-comers can ask some dumb questions without getting torn to shreds, lol..
Anyway, if this catches on, let me be the one to start it out.
I been reading up on the COBB AP and trying to learn more about it, but from what I've found, on a stock evo GSR, a guy can get +18% increase in HP by just doing a simple tune with the device through the OBD2 port.. is that right?

This is a much friendlier website than Evoxforums if that's what you're referring to, no one will crap on you here ;o
Yes, the Cobb AP is the safest and most reliable tune on the market. You can also hire certified tuners to make specific enhancements to the Cobb tunes as well; make sure they've got good reference though-there's a lot of "tuners" out there, especially on forums, that can blow your stuff up.
You might as well get a cat-back and intake and go stage two while you're at it

Hey OP, check out Alberta Evolution on facebook in case your not already there.
I dont think statements like cobb ap is the safest tune should never be said. Those tunes are just way to general and all cars will react different to them plus im not sure if cobb designs maps for altitudes like 3000ft and -30F weather..
BTW, this thread is a great idea! The rx8 forums had it and it helped so much! I always meant to do one here but never got to lol

OP those types of gains are made based on the octane fuel you use, some of which you can do on a track day or something. But the real benefit comes when you start getting upgrades and can do quick and easy adjustments. Though I'm not sure the calibrations are out for 2013...
You will get a decent boost out of just the OTS maps. If i recall right, it felt like a new car after the flash. The 2013 maps are out on the cobb forums, i believe the canada and US are the same.
