What is speed density. I keep seeing people talking about it and say they are running it. What is it, and what does it do?

If I'm not mistaken, it's part of the MAF assembly.

On the EVO X the ambient temperature sensor is located just above the intercooler, behind the bumper, under the black plastic tray the covers the gap between the bumper and the radiator support.

Make sure your airbag harness is clicked in right. It's the yellow plug.

The Evo, and most cars, run a mass air flow sensor
A tiny wire inside the tube just after the air filer counts the number of air molecules it sees go by. It sends that info to the ECU so the ECU can have enough fuel ready to burn that amount if air by the time it gets to the engine. Milliseconds.

Speed density is exactly what it sounds like...instead of counting the VOLUME of air coming to the motor like normal, it measures the SPEED and DENSITY of the incoming air, and mixes gas off of that. It's just a different way to do it, Hondas are stock that way I think. You commonly see it when a tuner is running software that requires that kind of input instead of air volume.

Well the basics always apply. A motor is essentially a big air pump. If you want more power, add more air. That's what a turbo does. If you add too much air without fuel, you run too hot and cause engine damage. You'll go fast, but not for long!

On a gts, nothing short of a turbo is going to get you anything you'll notice for power. The best bet for mpg? Maintenance. Tire pressure more than anything. You can score maybe 10whp by doing an air intake and exhaust, but even on the Evos, the factory intake is so good that a lot of guys hit 350hl all day without going aftermarket.

I doubt they will. It is illegal to tamper or disable with the TPMS system as per federal law. If they do they open themselves up to all sorts of liability issues as well as legal issues.

That being said, is the law stupid? I think it is but I check my tire pressures weekly, the average person probably doesn't and needs this system.

When it comes to the TPMS light you can get rid of it a couple of different ways.

You can ask around on the forums for someone to disable it by changing the settings in your ECU with a special tool.

You can go to the dealer to reprogram your cars ecu to your existing sensors ( if you have them)

Or, (shameless plug) you can use the sensors I sell that clone the TPMS sensors that came with your car and not have to do either of the above.

Yes, the Cobb AP is the safest and most reliable tune on the market.

Just stay out of TBR although it does come with a warning and if you have a sense of humor it's a great area. Used to go there on a bad day at work and it would make me laugh.

Also +1 on the Cobb AP

Once the airbag sensor is tripped it will stay lit until you take it to the dealer to have it removed. It doesn't run off of the ecu, so taking it to a tuner and having the code cleared wont work, only the dealer. should only be 40 bucks.

Hello everyone

I bought a 2008 Evo X MR a month back, love the car....but would appreciate some help please

a) The key has seemed to stop working...I can't unlock, lock or open the boot with the key....however I can unlock the car and start it up when I bring the key near the door. Is this a guy issue or an immobilizer issue?

b) It has happened several times (but not recently, thank God). When I start the car it would idle very low and then stall. It went for a retune since I added the AMS downpipe and Cobb intercooler piping and it hasn't happened since, but it was worrying.

Sorry for the stupid questions, but I guess this is the right thread

Thanks a million
