Service Engine soon Light

My 2008 (early production) EvoX has about 75,000 miles on it. I have kept up on all the normal routine maintenance.
Most of the time, I am very conservative in my driving, Only drive it hard for short periods and not frequently at all. Yesterday I got the "service engine soon" light on. Does anyone know what typically triggers that light to come on??? Thanks in advance for any info on this.

You gotta take the car to have the code scanned. We can't help you if we don't know the code. It'd be like asking someone... "I have a pain somewhere. Whats wrong with me?"

Take the car to Autozone or Advance Auto Parts and have them scan the code then post it up here. From there we should be able to help.

You can take it to Autozone or pretty much any auto store and have them scan it for free.

I just purchased a $20 scanner from Amazon that can read and clear codes.

If you have an AP that should give you the code as well. From the sound of it, this may be something unrelated to oil changes.

What did you find out?

The display cleared itself after 2 days, The engine always ran smoothly. The following day we pulled the code and it indicated some kind of multiple ignition faults. We cleared the code and it has not reoccured, "Yet".
