I can't decide on which exhaust!!!

Yup, another exhaust thread. I've searched and still can't really decide. I'm caught between the ETS V2 Normal and the Extreme. I like the Normal, because it is fairly tame, but I LOVE the Extreme, however I'm afraid of getting a ticket and/or pissing people off

Any advice here from those of you who have them?

Where you?...California? Look if you found an exhaust you love then get it. Most states noise restriction laws are fairly lax and unless your going ***** deep into the trottle everwhere you go then youve got no worries. Are you running a test pipe?...if your just going to have a catback then its not going to be crazy loud. However a testpipe does increase the volume a bit.. still nothing to worry about during a normal cruse. Do yourself a favor and research the local laws and then make a good educated decision based on that. Personally I'd say go for it but since your worried....go research the laws. You might be suprised how lax they really are. Exclude everything I said if your in Cali....cause your already screwed.

I'm not in CA and the cops here in MD are pretty lax, as long as I wasn't acting a fool. This will be the only exhaust component for a while, I'll still be running the stock cat and DP and have no intention of putting in a TP for a while. I just don't want to buy the Normal version, and then be disappointed because its toooooo quiet.

Undersrandable...ive heard that the V2 is quit at idle and doesnt really growl until a WOT pull. ..its all on what your looking for and exactly how loud your reaching for. I'd opt for the extreme man...give her a nice exhaust note during crusing speeds. If you like hearing your car then pull the trigger on the extreme and dont look back. Look at it this way...how loud could it really be runing the stock dp and cat....im sure youll be happy. Off topic...why just those two and no others?

Thanks for the advice. The reason being for those two in particular is because I have gone through pretty much every exhaust available for the X and I just really liked those 2 the best. I was looking at the Cp-E there for a while but I personally feel like these 2 exhaust have the best sound. Really, just personal preference.

Do you DD your car? If so get the quiet ETS version.

The Extreme is how do you I put this... extremely loud lol. I don't DD my car so I'll probably be getting that in the near future

But you can get the extreme version with an optional resonator.

If you like the sound of straight piped turbo cars you will like the sound of the extreme. It its pretty loud and aggressive sounding. You can buy one and all you have to do is swap the rear section out if your unhappy with the extreme. It is interchangeable between the quiet, V2 and the extreme.

As Alpha said it is "extremely loud lol"

Yea, I DD the car, but I don't think I could ever get tired of that exhaust note. What does the resonator do?

You say that, but when your driving that drone will get old after a while. I don't know how long your drive, but even my TurboXS w/HFC's drone sucks some times. That extreme is going to be STUPID loud, but if that is what you are looking for go for it. Personally with it being a DD i would do the V2 to eliminate some drone during your drives.

My commute is pretty long, around 60 miles a day. I dunno that I would get tired of it. Back when I had my Ram I was running a true-duel exhaust on it with Magnaflow's and never got tired of it. I've always loved loud exhaust, hence why I was looking at the Extreme.

In that case, if you know you love it, get the Extreme! You already know you want it, pull that trigger. Worst case you can sell the axel back and pick up the V2 if you don't like it.

I have the Ultimate Racing. It's perfect for me. Adding test pipe and tune tomorrow so we will see how loud it gets. But an exhause is something you have to hear in real life. I can tell you my exhaust is perfect and somebody else will say it's loud as heck or too quite. There is another post here or on another site where someone is saying his exhaust is WAY too loud but others with the same exhaust don't think so. I would try to find a local Evo meet and see if you can hear them. How loud they are and the sound they make is really subjective. I have heard the ETS and it sounds sort of like a tractor taking off to me. But others love it and ETS makes good stuff. I have their intake and UICP. I personally found the sound and looks of the UR exhaust more pleasing.

As far as cops. I'm in CA, Orange County to be exact and I haven't had a problem. Had this cop behind me all the way up a hill where there is no way to drive quietly. He just kept driving when I turned onto my street. I think a lot of these stories of cops messing with people might be missing some important details. Like the person was being an a hole or driving like an idiot. Not saying some cops aren't jerks. Just going off my 26 years of driving. All those years in CA where cops are supposed to be "jerks".

The resonator helps bring down the tone a bit. It does an OK job. It's not something we normally do, but we can do it.
