Odd Testpipe sound??

Hey guys,

Put a testpipe on this week and tuned cobb stage 2...everything seems to be ok and logs look good...at wot the car sounds beast but at idle I am not sure if the noise I hear is normal...can others with a testpipe chime in? I made a little video below...the sound I'm talking about is not the reverberating/vibration sound but the sputtering sound in the background that sound sorta like an exhaust leak...its the quieter of the sounds in the video...

Sounds okay to me but the audio is kind of blown out in the vid. Remember that going to a test pipe will amplify the sounds that would normally be resonated in a larger diameter exhaust path.

Without listening to the clip(currently at work) I would assume its droning you hear. My exhaust drones a little at partial throttle at around 3,000 RPM. If its just droning, its normal.

nope not droning at all...the first clip is full of droning though but that's just cause I was in a garage...below is the exact sound I was talking about..exhaust sounds fine from back but from side of car it sounds like an exhaust leak...but the bolts are tight with two brand new gaskets between them...should I not use regular 3" gaskets and use some other ones?

Just heard video for first time. Your right it's definitely not droning and definitely an exhaust leak. Try taking it apart and putting it back just to make sure it aligned flush and there are no cracks in the gasket. Just my 2 cents tho, never said I was a mechanic LOL!!

That's odd. After installing my test pipe a bolt snapped while driving and caused the gasket to come out of alignment. My car didn't sound like yours though, mine was a really loud hissing sound.

Still, the best bet is to just take it off and inspect it. I bet something is not aligned properly.

I unbolted and rebolted it a few nights ago..I am putting the cat back on sunday night b/c Im taking it to the dealer to have oil...trans fluid...diff fluids flushed....should I try using the super thin OEM gaskets instead of the thicker 3" ones I got?
