Boost Controller With Intake +45WHP

AMS Claims they made +45whp with their intake and manual boost controller. Does anyone know anything about this? I was planning on buying their intake, UICP, and an AP. My guess is that they made those gains along with a custom tune. Should I go ahead and get a boost controller with the intake and UICP?

With the X you really don't need a manual boost controller, i would opt for the 3-port instead.

I agree 3 port ebcs is the way to go on an X, and as far as intakes go check out ETS. There advertised gains for their intake(along with a mbc @22psi) are 56 whp over stock, oh and did I mention ETS's intake is about $100 cheaper than the AMS intake.

I think both of the claimed gains are really mostly coming from the tune, not the parts. You could tune a completely stock car and not be far from them.

Contact Andrew@AMS and he will give you a discount on the AMS intake for being a forum member. I absolutely love my AMS intake and wouldn't put any other intakes on my car. The quality is second to none. Buy a GrimmSpeed 3-Port boost selanoid. It's easy to install and easy to tune.

Or spend 100 dollars less and get one of the best intakes out there, the ETS one. Hands down one of the best intakes for our cars.

Explain to me what makes it "the best"... You are simply stating an opinion. There is no proven fact that ETS is one of the best intakes. It's a matter of personal preference. I chose to spend my extra money on a AMS intake due to their reputation, customer service, location, recommendation, quality, and performance.

bigmatt33, if you do decide to go with the AMS intake, you won't regret it. The quality of the intake is incomparable. The welds are very precise and even. The mirror like polish is superb. Fits like a golve, and the sound is music to my ear.

I'm really not here to argue. I'm just here offer an opinion.

Exactly what my post, my opinion. I said "ONE of the best", not the best. Raw numbers and the amount of cars that run the ETS can speak for themselves, and most X owners know both ETS and AMS are legit. I just feel you get more value out of swapping to the ETS. It will run with the stock set up, yet be good for more powerful builds, and is upgradable later so it doesn't have to be replaced.

I prefer the ETS. Cheaper, still realiable, great reputation and it was shipped out to me within 4 days. Just saying.

We have similar results with a boost controller.

If you plan on staying close to stock, yea pick it up. If you plan on doing more mods in the future, get the ETS, or even the AMS, as they will be able to handle the future mods.

I wish i went with ETS instead of Gruppe M. But I'm making it work, going to be making my own 3.5" intake out of it.
