I'm thinking the 3.5" would probably work best. I will either go with the AMS or ETS. Those brands seem to be the best quality for the buck. Some brands IC I have found cost like twice as much as those.

Really depends on your goals with the car. We recommend the 3.0" for a stock replacement at moderate boost levels or with a customer who runs a 30R or something similar. The problem with the stock frame turbochargers is that most customers will run them out of their efficiency range which creates a lot of excess heat. The larger intercooler like the 3.5" does a much job at keeping intake temps to a minimum. The 3.5" will also fit behind the crash beam with no modifications. In my opinion you can't go wrong with the 3.5". If you plan on running a larger turbo setup down the road a 4.0" would be preferred for flow reasons, you won't notice an increase in lag on the stock turbocharger (We tested this with a 5.0" intercooler and full 3.0" piping and didn't increase the lag).

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Michael

+1

I've been running the 4in on my 2011 X and haven't run into any issues with lag. I personally went with the 4in because I have plans to upgrade the turbo. Can't beat ETS customer service either.

just purchased an ETS 3.5" and its not in the car yet. i felt as though 3.5" is the best of all worlds. flow, efficiency, heat dispersal and power. anything more than 4" and you have to wonder, is that 4" core really getting cold all the way though? is it more effient?

AMS or ETS 3.5" has my vote all day for small and larger turbos.
