For those of you with ACD pump failures (merged)

@mshilto98 - That really sucks, sorry to hear about the trouble this has caused you.
- I also agree with Thomar, If its used to ensure the function of a system then it is considered part of THAT system. In your case, the drive train system.

My opinion is that the ACD/AYC pump should be considered a part of the drivetrain and, therefore, covered under that part of the warranty. But my opinion is irrelevant.
I know that a few people have been (very) lucky and had a dead pump fixed for free beyond the bumper-to-bumper time/mileage limit. I also know that many have not.
My opinion is that people should discuss the details of warranties and warranty denials precisely and accurately to avoid giving others a false impression.
I know that I shouldn't let it bother me so much when people don't do this.

As to the question of guessing ... I said that too strongly. Apologies. There's nothing really wrong with guessing as long as you're clear that that's what you're doing. So part of your post with guesses in it was fine. But the part about turning off the AYC with the ASC button was also a guess - and an incorrect guess - and was not worded to be clear that it was a guess. That's what set me off.

My ACD/AYC pump failed last year. Covered by warranty. Two others at my dealership had the same failure. Both were past the mileage, no warranty coverage. Official Mitsu opinion is that the pump is not a mechanical part of the powertrain, and is therefore not covered by the powertrain warranty. I'm not saying I agree with them, only that I know why they don't cover it. Personally, since its only purpose is to allow the diffs to operate normally, I think it should be considered a powertrain component.

On 4/24/2013 my pump went, I took it too the dealer and they really wanna "break it off in my ***"!!! 2400.00!!! I'm gonna see if another shop can handle the job; if so it will cost me parts only. However this is a stupid fu#@ing problem to have on a car with 29k on it!!!!!

And I want to know why you need to be so aggressive. Share your oppinion, dont be an ***. I dont think a lot of people would like the way you respond to others posts and comments.
I dont.
I don't. I'm theorizing as to why Mitsubishi says driving with an unserviceable pump can cause damage to drivetrain components.
Please show me the evolutionm.net forum rule(s) stating that 'guessing', in one way or another, is not allowed.

Add me to the victims' list.
2008 X GSR, failed around 85k, so needless to say I didn't even try the warranty thing.
From what it seems, this could have been easily solved by, oh, putting a $1 plastic cover over the whole unit.
Also, since the aftermarket has already devised a solution to this (rebuild kit), I'm curious as to why Mitsu cannot do the same-- i.e. why do you need to buy a $1500 pump.
