For those of you with ACD pump failures (merged)
So, I bought a dead pump just to see how difficult it would come apart. I wanted to test the motor and so forth and then buy the kit, install it and then post up on the process.
The pump I bought actually looked pretty good, some exterior corrosion but not too terrible. I had to cut the three bolts off that hold the motor on. Good news, the motor works. I need to figure out how to pull it apart though, as it doesn't slide apart the way it does in the video.
I can't though, get the main housing off, it does not want to come apart. I did undo the two inside bolts. Even with some nice mallet whacks and some prying it is still stuck.
Two of the three solenoids came right out. The third though, corroded onto the pump and broke at the base. That's not good. As there does not seem to be ANY way to get the solenoid guts out of the pump. Ideas are welcome.
So, as it stands, the motor lives and I have, I believe, two good solenoids. I can't get the main body off, I can't get one solenoid guts out. Aside from that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
This is considerably less fun than I had hoped. As nice it would be to have Mitsui warranty these forever, I only wish we could find a source to buy them at something much less than $1500 new (or whatever). This would all be so much less frustrating if the pumps were $379.

Johnr352, you may have to restart the process if you can't get the solenoid guts out or the main housing apart. If you do need to do that, call a few dealerships and try to get one for free this time because they just send them to scrap metal and don't send them back to Mitsu...understand that dealerships sell pumps and therefore some may not want to help with you rebuilding yours but you may find a nice person willing to help. If you can get the guts out and the main body apart then you can just get a Ralliart pump as you only need one more solenoid and Ralliart pumps they're much easier to obtain. I noticed that Kompas was selling reconditioned solenoids for the Evo/Ralliart for $325 each.
And you are right, it's no fun taking these pumps apart and I was attempting something similar as you. I sat here with the Ralliart pump I'd obtained to take some of it apart and analyze it for any pump differences and then afterwards to take dimensions for relocation kit placement...I didn't need to go as far as what you're doing for what I needed, but as you now know, everything is so difficult to remove on those corroded pumps and so I understand why people just send them out and don't do the work themselves. This Ralliart pump I had was corroded, yet the motor was still working well and the solenoid was good I believe, so after I was finished with it I gave it to a friend who used those parts with the parts from his failed Evo pump and he sent out everything and had his Evo pump rebuilt with new plates, sealed, and tested. Unfortunately after all that work and expense including re-install and bleeding, the rebuilt pump failed after about a month or so...my friend has now taken up swearing and is buying a new pump and has joined the relocation to the boot space group buy.
There is also a follow up second video on taking difficult pumps apart don't know if you've seen it, it's called "problematic AYC/ACD" repair...seems like so much work but it may help you and there's definitely some good tips and especially on getting the pump body apart. Good luck and keep us posted and do post some pics.

How much do you guys in the states pay for pumps? The prices went down in Canada a few months ago to $1100 for the Ralliart and $1200 for the Evo plus taxes which range from 5%_18% depending on the province you purchase from. If this is cheaper, U.S people could get one here if they're closer to the border.
Afterwards, relocate the pump like many of us are doing so you'll never have to worry about it again. Note for those of us relocating, Chris sent a message about a week ago that the kits are presently being produced for us and we should have them within the next few weeks depending on shipping.

Is there a link for this with pricing info? I found a few sites mentioning that the kits would be available soon, but nothing on pricing.
I organized a group buy for the Ralliart/Evo X relocation kits because I got (begged) the company to design them for our 2008+ year cars so negotiated to get us all a good end deal for us first purchasers. My complete Evo X kit with shipping and after pound conversion only cost me $597 Canadian. Those who purchased the Ralliart kit or without esthetic cover paid less.
The group buy was over last month, but since you are so close to the time and they are being put together for us based on our orders but not yet shipped, you may still be able to tag on but you'd have to be quick. The group buy had included, reduced shipping rate, extra esthetic cover, and 15%-off the website price. Pm me for further details.

Sawdust, you can join in it's not too late. Here's a previous post with the group buy prices so you can decide what you'll need. I've sent a pm to you on how to purchase.
Some people have asked if they can have a reduction in price if they own Ralliarts and only want one ACD line or for those who don't want the esthetic cover. I just got the message back from Chris and he's agreed to do that...there will be a 50 pound reduction for Ralliart kits which will have the same cradle, esthetic cover, but only one braided line, and for those Evos/Ralliarts with gutted trunk and not wanting the esthetic cover there will be a further reduction of 10 pounds...
The prices for this group buy are...
The full Ralliart kit is 349-50-15% off+49 shipping = 303.15 pounds.
The full Evo kit is 349-15%+49 shipping= 345.65 pounds.
Ralliart kit with cradle and one line WITHOUT esthetic cover is 349-60-15%+49 shipping=294.65 pounds.
Evo kit with cradle and three lines WITHOUT esthetic cover is 349-10-15%+49 shipping=337.15 pounds.
Chris can fit three kits in one package if there are those who can arrange to have their kits sent with others and then it's only one fee of 49 pounds for the three kits sent to ONE address.
For those of us relocating a message from Chris sent June 30th so you know the time frame...
Hi Corinne & other buyers,
Sorry for the lack of contact. Was going to write a group email to all that have bought one.
So where we are at:
Just waiting for the metal brackets to be powder coated
Had all lines turn up today ready for packaging up and the plonkers had got one of the fittings wrong!! So all the hoses have to go back to them for the fittings to be changed!! Night mare and delays the whole process a while. My estimation is that the kits will leave for you in 2 weeks from now. Hopefully this is the only hold up.
Please pass this on to all that have bought one.
Kind regards

Just giving you a hard time. I might suggest reading through this and similar to better understand the issues.
