Stock Exhaust?

After Dave Smith motors screwed me with an X with a bad clutch, I decided to take it to the Mitsu dealer to see what else was wrong with it. I asked what kind of exhaust it has and he said stock....I politely told him that I very much doubt that it is, and he reassured me that it was! This went on for a while and I eventually figured I would ask you guys.
I was under the assumption that all X exhausts have the classic silver tips and not Huge like mine. That, and I feel like these are a fair bit louder than any kind of stock. My service rep said that some came with the tips and some came like mine.

Any thoughts guys??

Def not OEM.. I'm not sure what brand that is.. I'm guessing custom.

The stock one has oval tips and heat shields attached all the way around. No X came with different tips. Plus the midpipe is straight through with no resonators.

Thats what I thought. He did mention that the CAT has been deleted and that there is a different downpipe. I need to find a Tuner in my area but I have no idea where to start!

If you can't find a tuner, you can always buy a COBB AP and load a stage 2 map. That is setup to run a turbo back exhaust which is what you have..

The dealer clearly doesn't know what the stock exhaust looks like. Plus there is no cat on the car and they should at least be able to identify that.

This aftermarket exhaust is similar in design to the oem exhaust, but there is no cat. It actually looks like a decent exhaust as long as you don't mind not having a cat.

The downside is you won't be able to temporary bolt on a cat when you need smog check.

So this is like a stock pipe with the catalyst converter taken out of it. so does the car feel any different rev wise. I'm planning on removing my catalyst converter from my stock pipe as well. But i want to know how the car preforms with yours removed.

A dealer sold you a car without a cat?

If so (and you can prove it), then you now have them over a barrel. I'd be asking for a Akropovic (or whatever it is called) in return for you not turning them in to the EPA.

If you live in Idaho, you need to go see Hollywod_X. He did amazing work with my e-tune. It can only get better if you have the pleasure to do it in person with him!

Is there a picture missing? That mid-pipe from a Turbo XS exhaust eliminates the resonator, but not the cat. I don't see a picture that shows no cat.

I have never had an evo with or without a cat so I cant say I know the difference. I would say that it is very throaty and guttural sounding which I love personally. It feels like it revs the same as the MR I test drove. It seems to run very rich so theres lots of popping and non extreme backfires in between shifts. Driveability feels unaffected. Living in Idaho, I don't have SMOG to worry about so I can live without a cat and be just fine legally.

Here's a picture of what the Mitsu dealer *thought* was a high flow cat, but is just a resonator.

Actually, that's exactly what a Turbo XS high-flow cat looks like ... after the elements get to it.

Add in the fact that most dealers are not stupid enough to risk the $25k fine, odds are that is a cat.

Yea that's prolly the high flow cat. Would be a very small resonator.
