bro at the end of the day its your wallet and will be your car. Nevermind the douche canoe's that'll tell you whats rice or not needed on this forum. if you want to put a $10k bodykit or spend 4k on wheels your badass. Throw a bov on ur car and all of a sudden your a tool. To point you in the right direction instead of being a feminine washing agent, good start would be the turbosmart 50/50 bov. Its what I have on my 2013 Gsr, sounds great. Also further answering what you were looking for, all my parts fit exactly like the earlier eves 10's. Evos dont play well w/ 100% atmospheric bov's. So if you want a f&f sounding hks ssqv bov you'll need to buy the recic piping that they sell with those now. Mod your car how you want, you work for it. Just my $.02

Im not sure what this has to do at all with what I said or what were talking about. I was just advising him that he cant put a fully vented bov on his stock car without running into some issues.

All I was trying to tell the guy was that our cars make the sound he is looking for. Maybe not between shifts like he wants but the car still makes the sound. Maybe he is just not aware of it.

Either way, Iowa999's suggestion has been the best one so far :P

I drive a 2013 evo. The issue about support from what i understand revolves around tuning it. That issue has been resolved. Get COBB Accessport, and the above people are right, you wont need a bov. Get an intake, i bought the injen one. The bov is very noticable, and most people wouldnt know it was the stock one

Btw dousche canoe? Wtf? :/

For the BOV, it might sound ricey but I've always loved the Woosh sound when shifting ^_^

Why do people buy BOV's (or should I say diverter valve) like the Turbo Smart if the OEM one doesn't really need to be replaced? They replace it if they are pushing more boost or because they want the sound? I read the turbo smart can be 50/50 recirc and VTA. If someone bought that would the 50/50 still be bad for the car?

VTA isnt really "bad" persay, but it does induce a loss of power. The recirculated setup is to recirculate the air obviously back into the intake. More air means more gas spray means more power. And yes, they buy vta bov or dv for the sound more than anything else. I wanted an aftermarket bov but after buying my intake i realized it was a waste of money that could be better spent elsewhere

So the 50/50, although better then VTA, is not as good as the OEM recirc?

I'm prrreeeettttty sure I said I have the turbosmart one and no its not bad for the car at all. I decided on the turbosmart one after reading up on the forum and a TON of people have it. I'm sure some of those "you dont need it" guys have it on their cars but dont have the sack to admit it. Like wanting to hear the psht sound is soooooo rice lmao. My car is brand new and is not stock at all. I plan on upgrading and building my engine later. People tell me that I didnt need this or that but in my eyes why not get bigger parts that you'll need in the future???? My tuner totally agrees i'm getting tuned for e-85 right now as we speak, this thread is making me wanna throw up. Pointless arguing about a part you "don't need". I have a question for all of you who says that... What the f is a part that you DO need. A part other than the oem configuration that is 100% needed???????? I'll wait

I'm just curious why some people say that changing the bov is bad for the car and some say otherwise? Seems to be mixed opinions

yup thats because people who are not running a bov is just listening to word of mouth... MY CAR HAS BEEN ON A DYNO. All i'm saying. I'm under stock boost on my tune which is getting turned up right now and I put down 325 on 91 octane, so supposedly if I put my oem bov on i'll gain hp lmao gtfo!

Thanks for your help on the BOV, guys.
From what I understand, it's more complicated than what I thought LOL.
For us Z guys (I'm coming from an HR 350z, NA) the Cold Air Intake is a must, believe it or not, some do it for the sound. I did it for the look but also for the high-end HP gain (I was able to run 13.5 Secs at the track doing 108MPH - Averge HR 350z runs 14 at around 101 MPH) so yeah, you really can't get and intake and loose power with the HR Z.

Looks like it's different in here.

Will def' look into it in details when I get the car so I don't make the same mistake I did when I bought my Z. I was all over the place.

Thanks again for your answers

only mistake getting a bov on ur evo is to get an 100% atmospheric, because our oem configuration does not support that. This is the answer you should've got instead of knuckleheads telling you what you dont need brother!

Lol im not against getting one, but when i said you dont need one in saying the stock bov is loud enough for what he wants (assuming you have an intake) and that an aftermarket one wont provide much benefits other than sound quality. I admit i like the sound of the aftermarket bovs and of course they exist for a reason, some vent air faster than others (tial vents the most) but the point remains other than sound you wont see any noticable changes good or bad with an aftermarket bov.
