fuel pump relay... i was told the new black ones are NOT correct
Im not interested in testing mine. Just interested in replacing what might be a defective fuse/relay. Doing it as a preventive measure. I'm just curious as to why the tsb seems to be different then the information I am reading on this forum. Or so it seems unless I am reading something wrong?
This may help you
Got this off another forum
-If I have green or blue relays do I need to change them out???
If you live in a warm climate, then no they are fine, but if you live in a colder climate then yes swap them out. If you are paranoid about it then just change them!!!! Any electrical part can fail and will over time, some are just built better and last longer.
-How can I tell if my relays are bad???
Do the "salt shaker" test!!!! Just shake the relay and if you hear the components moving around and sound like a salt shaker, then the relay is bad or going bad/weak. Our black fuel pump relay failed the salt shaker test!!!
-What does the new MFI relay do???
It is the Multport Fuel injection relay and controls the pulsing of the injector during idle, cruise, and WOT. If this relay goes bad or quits working your car won't start.
-What does the throttle actuator relay do???
It control the solenoid on the throttle plate and allows the throttle blade to move when you hit the gas pedal, if this relay goes bad, you will likely get a limp mode code or the car will idle strange, or not start at all.
-What does the starter relay do???
It controls the starter solenoid to engage the starter, if this relay goes out, you can't start your car.
-What does the injector relay do???
It controls the injector duty cycles during all forms of operation, idle, cruise, WOT. If this relay goes bad, you will likely get a limp mode code and could cause no start or lean conditions.
-What does the fuel pump relay do???
It controls the high to low pulse on the fuel pump during cruise to WOT operation. If it fails then you will run dangerously lean and could cause serious damage to your motor.
***Well that about sums it up, if you have any other questions, I will see what I can do.
Best advice is to invest some money in a wideband, it will let you know when things start to go south so you can pull over and turn the car off. A wideband should be everyone's first mod!!!!!

I started to order the ssp package but if you go to one of the big Mitsubishi online parts sites and plug in part numer mr122409 it says part superseded and the new part numer is 8627a011. With this and the fact the tsb is for 2008-2010 I'm hesitant to change the ones in my 2012. Scary stuff!
