N1 CBE Help!?

So today I put on my Invida N1 and it was a hassle from the get go. First off, the bolts they supplied were not long enough so I had to go to local hardware store to buy a longer bolt. Not only that the heat shield is now open and dangling causing a bunch of rattle sounds (I am going to find a way to tighten it up and hopefully stop all the rattling, it drives me crazy) because the gasket is larger than the stock one. So, the question I have is: why does my car smell like popcorn/caramel. Never had this problem before. Could it be the midpipe is touching something and causing this smell? The exhaust is blowing out white smoke but I know that normal because it is brand new. Any reasons why it smells so bad. It has no resonator if that matters at all. Other than all those problems it sounds and looks great.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I have the Invida N1 exhaust as well..the heat shield was a pain because the flange on the cat back was to big and the heat shield wouldn't fit over it, so i just used a pair of tin cutters and cut the heat shield back so i could fit the exhaust. As for the smell you have, i have no idea mine smells normal. It might just be because its new, mine had a wierd smell for the first hour or so of driving. The white smoke will go away after like 30 mins of driving.

Popcorn smell should not be that alarming. Is it touching the rear diff? I had a problem installing mine but after I finagled the hangers a but I have 1" of clearance. BTW this exhaust sounds sweet doesn't it?
