So first the car is a STOCK!! 2011 EVO MR with 22,000 on the clock. Until this morning the car has driven like a dream!!! No problems and I have done all services on time with the right materials.

Now with that out of the way. I was on the way to work this morning and when I got on the highway on ramp and hit the gas a little (to speed up to oncoming traffic...not to hoon it) the car acted like it did not want to leave 4th and would rev then fall...rinse and repeat. Then it started to go finally. So it drove allmost all the way to work and I noticed that at a idle it would sit a 2,000rpm. then it turned off like a half mile from my job and would not start. When I turn it over it just cranks; starts for like a second; then dies...over and over. Please help this thing is my baby!!!

 

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Check all clamps and intake - first

 

check the small vacuum hose in the front of the intake. (left side)

So when the tow truck driver got here it started just fine and idled normally. But the check engine light is still on???

 

Check your FPR hose and for vacuum leaks like others have said.

In those 22k miles, have you launched the car? If so how many times? Are you the original owner? If not, how many times do you think the original owner has launched the car?

Hopefully the issue is just something small but I read that when the MR transmission starts to give, it is usually has problems grabbing the odd number gears. Not sure if this could be that issue though.

Good news is, completely stock and 22k miles, you should be able to take it to the dealer and let them figure it out. Ofcourse their mechanics will have to drive your car around and try to duplicate the issue. But since it's not starting I assume they will see something wrong with it.

Wow, I'm rambling and need my coffee. Check for obvious issues like mentioned above or go take it to the dealer.

 

I am the orignal owner and the car was bought BRAND NEW!!! from a authroized Mitsu dealer. I have only ever launched it one time and that was at like 17,000/6 months ago. I do push the car here and there but its not a Hoon machine (b/c I used Iraq $$ to buy this and cant really afford to trash it)

 

First of all, I would like to say "Thank you" for your military service. Secondly, you said the check engine light is on still, correct? If so, go to an Advance Auto Parts or an AutoZone or something similar and see if you can get them to scan your car for an OBDII code. That may give you more insight as to what part may be failing (if any).

 

Just take it to the dealer. It's good to start a paper trail. If the issue is off and on and only happens occasionally, it may very well continue. If you have complaints and reports of it happening now, then when your warranty is up and it continues to occur, you may still be able to get Mitsu to cover it.

The car is at the stealership now awaiting "diag" unfourtunality there is only one person at that dealership the guy said is authroized to look at it. I'll keep you guys posted on the status of the repair.

 

You have a stock 2011. It's still under warranty. That warranty includes 5 years of road side assistance. Have them tow it to the nearest dealer. This probably isn't something someone could diagnose on the interwebz.

 

keep us posted of what the issue is with it. As said above, sounds like it could be some kind of vacuum leak
