Crazy KBB value...

KBB values my 08 MR at $36,909 retail. That's insanity! I have 36k on it which is lower but a year ago when I bought the KBB was $34k. At 28k mi. What the hell?

I've wondered the same. KBB seems to be really off on the values

edit*** Whats even more way off (IMO) is the value between excellent and very good. But these values seem to be undervalued and this is my experience going through a diminished value claim. The difference between a wreaked and repaired Evo compared to an Evo in perfect (non wreaked) condition is about $1000 according to kbb. IMO this is also way off as well.

That sounds about right...what issue do you have with that?

Yeah KBB's numbers are incredibly inaccurate. Dealerships never use those numbers!

^Mods you have done to a car do not add value. Bottom line is it's a 13 year old car with decent miles on it. I just saw a 2000 Type R locally that was full blown and 60k miles for 10k.

My evo blue books at 23k for an 05 with 26k on the clock. I'd say thats a fair number, no?

The rarity of the cars "virginity" does not factor into the value with kbb as far as I know. I'm sure the location might factor in as well.

I use it all the time. Seems like it is usually in the ballpark. Better used on non sports cars though.

However most banks do use these numbers to approve auto loans.

Just to let you know bud, your car is going to be 14 years old. Another ten years or so and you can get an antique plate for it.

You did notice that mkhalid lives in Washington, yes? A car must be 30+ in that state to be an antique.
