I DD mine at over 400HP and a Stage 2 Competition Clutch. It's fine. With light bolt ons and a tune, there's no reason you would need an upgraded clutch. The OEM clutch is light enough that it's fine in traffic.

This is awesome - do you have a thread/posts comparing the driving experience, etc.? From a daily driving perspective of course - couldn't find anything on a quick search

Been DD'ing my 2008 GSR since it was new, and now have 78,000 miles. Never a single problem with the car, yet -- knock on wood. I have several mods and a Cobb Stage 2 tune. It runs awesome and stands up surprisingly well to Michigan's utter **** pothole filled roads.

I don't have a thread, but it really depends on the person. I loved both cars equally but I plan on purchasing another X soon.

I DD'd my IX for 43k miles, and have done 64k and counting on my X. The X is by far the better car for street use. Quieter, nicer, more creature comforts, etc.

Just like any other manual transmission car man, Its fine. You should know to not expect Audi, BMW or Mercedes luxury features. Ride is stiff, and obviously even more stiff on coils or springs. Its 100% fine IMO, Just understand/accept its a EVO!, it was not made to pamper you.

+1 to this. Small things like the Bluetooth in the X make it more comfortable. In my IX I had to change CD's every time...with the X just use my iPhone and call it a day. The Rockford Fosgate isn't bad either.

Between Bluetooth, navigation with media server HDD, and cruise control I'm pretty much set.

The only reason I would be against it as a DD is-if you rack up too many miles on it, that could negatively impact the resale value

This is true of any car. And to a degree I would say less so with an Evo than normal cars, depending on your market.

For example the market here in Minnesota is retarded. There are Evo VIII's and IX's here with over 150,000 miles still selling for well in to the high teens.

Our dealer sold an 08 with 98k on it for 19,999.

There are three main things I recommend avoiding if you're trying to keep the car as smooth and streetable as possible:
1. aftermarket cams
2. lightweight flywheel
3. aftermarket clutch with heavy pressure plate
Mark me down for that verbatim, because it's exactly right!

I personally would choose the gsr. I don't know how people can enjoy an automatic. I feel so much more in tune with the car driving a stick. I want to one day buy a gtr but will have a hard time getting over that it's an auto(no clutch).

EVO is a good DD for me, kinda depends on what your last car was.
