Numerous choices missing in 2014 MMCS
Any update on if this is a factory deal or a defective unit? i would like to get this but the maintenance recorder and the SD slot instead of the music server are the main reasons i want this
I never got around to calling Mitsubishi about it. I think I will soon.
From what the dealer told me - this is not a defect, it's intentional by Mitsu. No maintenance recorder.

I finally got in touch with Mitsubishi customer service at the corporate level.
I was told the 4 features I listed in my original post will not be on 2014 and later Mitsubishi Lancer based models. As we know the MMCS changed for the 2014 system, including what Mitsu described as "having new software", and due to using an SD card instead of a hard drive there are "memory limitations". Apparently that CAN bus answer from the dealer was inaccurate.
Customer service told me if they get enough requests for those 4 features to be added in, management might consider it. I'm supposedly on a list to be notified if a TSB comes out mentioning any updates to the MMCS firmware.
I guess anyone with a 2014 MMCS should contact Mitsu customer service and ask for the maintenance recorder and vehicle settings to be available again. 888-648-7820

That is absolute bull****. If mitsubishi are 'considering' it, then that means its possible...
Also, why would the stupid manual then say that those options are available, depending on the options of your car... I have a Ralliart, which has the auto wipers, auto headlights, keyless entry blah blah, and none of those options are available. This is stupid, as I hate the standard settings and want the doors to open again when I go to PARK....
Im contacting Mitsubishi Australia to see what the heck is going on. Makes no sense at all to have this removed....

You won't have much luck, unfortunately.
All of those advanced features which worked fine for Lancer (And Outlander SPORT, btw) will NOT work in your Lancer with the new 2014 Nav systems.
From 2014, the system was designed to work 100% with the new Outlander, and they were added in as much functionality as possible for other vehicles...but yes, some things not functioning that did in 2013 and before.
You could go back to a 2013 system, but the harnesses are different so its not easy.
Otherwise, a software update will not fix this...whoever mentioned above about it being related to the CAN system is correct.
