Wink about the navigation

Hi guys , i'm new to the evo's family

just got my 2014 black evo with SS and SL package in September and i love my car so much.

the 2014 evos come with a small screen which is the media control (no navigation) even on the base model. i'm thinking about purchasing a emo navigation unit for my car. the question is will the 08-13(since the 2014 navigation costs $2000+ at dealer) navigation plug and play in the 2014s?

my car has bluetooth and usb for ipod now, do you think it worth to change?

Here's the image that the above quote evokes:

Guy gets into his car, starts it, and says: "Hey, navigation unit, how do I get to the nearest Sonic from here?"

There's a brief silence and then the voice of a bored teen-age girl comes from the speakers: "Who cares? Food is evil. Let's just go wrap this thing around a telephone pole, instead."

Emo Navigation ... when you really don't care where you're going.

On the plus side it should come at a discount as it will most likely have cuts in the screen

I bought my evo with navi last September. I was surprised with the traffic updating. It's even faster than google maps all the time. I think it's worth for sure.

I have it and it's definitely not worth the $2,000 price tag.

I still use my Garmin gps on my iPhone

Hate using my phone's GPS since it won't really maintain a charge even plugged in so my phone is always dead after a long drive. There are some pretty good aftermarket ones I think that are less than $2k that would probably be a good enough substitution. Just do your research.

Factory nav works fine for me. If you're trying to save on the $2k hit when buying an evo, then maybe it's worth opting for aftermarket. I know I bought a Pioneer nav unit for like $650 about 5 years ago. I'd imagine the prices went down a little.

Factory navs are never perfect, but the one in the Evo is worlds better than the one in my B7 S4. I'd say i'ts worth it, but definitely a creature comfort for a sports oriented car. Do you travel to unknown places quite a bit?

I know it's all on preference but I don't see how they charge that much for the navigation system. It is the most expensive added option on the Evo. It's cheaper to get the sunroof and leather or SS package.

The MSRP for the 2013 was $2295 for the nav. They raised the price to $2375 in the 2014's. Now I realize this may be less as it all depends on how much the dealership sells the car to you at. But at MSRP pricing, and then after factoring in financing at 60 months and 3% interest, you will actually be paying more around $2560 for the navigation system.

I bought a used 2008 factory navigation system and installed it in my car and absolutely love it. It's honestly one of my favorite factory nav units I've played used. My buddy with a GT-R actually misses the nav system out of his X.
