2008-2009 have the most problems being as they are the newest to the X, also obviously car fax and what not, if it has any aftermarket items on it and what they are, and what tune it has if they did put aftermarket parts on them, also i wouldnt pay more that what the KBB puts on it

Ask if the timing chain has been updated. the 08 and 10 had a known stretching issues.
Ask/find out there it's from. If it's from a state with a cold climate. If it was, check to see if it has mud guards. If not, beware that the ADC pump may have been exposed to corrosive salts.

dude, if that is your issue i wouldnt buy one, stay in your means of living dude, if you cant afford the insurance on a newer model then i wouldnt buy one, a little more money in the long run will say you tons of money in the near future, i dont think you want to buy an 08 evo x with all the warranties expired and have something major **** up, then be out of a car, besides get different quotes from different insurance companies
Listen bro it's your money so do what you wish. I don't know how old you are, but regardless of age I'm trying to save you in the long run. Like Omar said try different quotes, and realize maintence costs add up as well. Stay away from Geico, my opinion, and save up your money for a bit. Cut useless spending and try to save $400-500 or more a month. If you can't do that something is better than nothing. Myself I want a 2014 GSR fully loaded, but I don't want a $700-800 car payment. I'm doing what I suggested to you, and waiting until next year. Possibly when the 2015 models come out, and dealers are looking to move inventory. Unless 2015 brings something better. If you have tickets on your record maybe they'll be gone next year. Potentially you can get a lower loan rate on new or newer cars as well. Which will save you money in the long run. You could also go the leasing route. Just some suggestions, but nest of luck with whatever you decide.
