throwing flames

I hope I don't get flamed for this (no pun intended) but I'm wondering how rich you have to tune to throw flames. I never have even when I was running rich. I guess I don't get why that happens if you have a good tune. From what I understand if you have a good tune you will not throw flames. I'm getting tuned on ethenol and would like if when I'm wot and let off I throw some flamage and that I pop when I let off gas with no clutch. But I have read and been told that is just a bad tune. My srt popped like crazy but it was designed from factory like that. It would dump excess fuel to manifold and it would pop. What's the truth about the evo and flames?

I'm more curious where you got the idea that an SRT comes from the factory with an anti-lag set-up (i.e., a system that dumps fuel into the exhaust manifold). But I guess I should first ask what/which SRT you are talking about.

Anyhoo, the best way to get flames is to get the exhaust from a WRC car. They have the cat near the tip of the tailpipe.

I think they make sweet flamethrower kits for cars. Like in the movie grease. So cool.

Your exhaust can pop without you spitting flames. My stock downpipe/cat setup with the HKS hi-power catback popped quite frequently.

Doesnt hqve to be rich to shoot flames. You can Run a 14.0 afr and shoot flames. Wont be out the exhaust but instead you shoot flames under your hood which will pop the hood up so you can see them. Thats defiantly a cooler way.

Also, have had my evo for a year and a half. Have quite a bit done to it as well. Just don't get on here much. Good guess though.

Neon SRT4s do not come with anti-lag from the factory. Yeah, they can go rich on a shift, especially when the silly owner swaps in a dump-to-atmosphere CBV, but they do not inject fuel directly into the exhaust manifold.

the new trend for als is not dumping fuel anymore, hence no more flames when als in use. you can see however a continuous small welding type (short pointy - bluish) of flame at night though end of the exhaust tip.

those old huge flame throwing als times are over. the new type of tune has less stress on the turbo and the engine so as the exhaust system. they are slightly less loud also. i love mine

Then do as I suggested above: put a cat about 8" from the tip of tail-pipe.
