TWM Short Shifter and Cage HELP

I have a Evo X GSR and I decided to get the TWM full cage with the short shifter. I got it in the mail and looking it over I was really impressed with the design. I started the installation as soon as it came although there were a few things that really frustrated me. For starters i put the short shifter ball into the center cup however after several attempts I had to suppress the cup to get the top plate back on. After that i realized that the shifter had a huge amount of resistance do to the ball being so tight in the cup. Hoping that it would just break in I continued the installation. When I finished I took it for a spin and saw that the center cup was moving up and down as I moved the shifter to the left and right. Now this really wouldn't have bothered me but when i was in gear I could move the shifter nearly a full inch in both directions because the cup was moving. I have it seated properly I'm sure of that. In addition to that twice the cable that is attached to the side silver arm came off do to the little peg that it goes on is unscrewing itself. I tighten it good each time but I don't see how this could happen. I'm not bashing TWM because really this is a great product I'm just hoping someone could give me some solutions. I plan on calling TWM tomorrow but I'm all ears if anyone has had these problems and fixed them. Thanks

I literally just got done installing mine plus doing the shifter base bushings, and underhood bushings + gate selector bushing. Everything went pretty smooth for me, especially the shifter install itself.

Are you able to take any pictures of what your problems are? It would be a lot easier for us to diagnose it that way.

The cable came off because that little pin unscrewed. I tried to make a video but it was to big. The center cup is moving up and down allowing alot of play while in gear.

Curious as to what twm says is up. I know when I had mine I did have to adjust the tension of the spring to fine tune the resistance, but never any problems like your describing.

I had the exact same problem. I bought mine in May of 2013. The shop that installed it said they contacted TWM about it, and said that they were going to ship out a new piece, however that never happened. After a few weeks i sent them an email, they responded wanting to know more info, I gave them the mechanics name and number as well as his description of the issue and they never contacted me back. I've just dealt with it, it's annoying and others driving my car have mentioned it, hope you have better luck. I'm happy for others that have had perfectly working units, and when someone asks me about the shifter i tell them to make sure that TWM assembles it, still kind of bugs me every time i get the promotion emails from them lol.

It is important that this has been brought to our attention. Although shifter cage assembly by the end user has been an issue in the past, it is no longer the case because we assemble the cages with our short shifters installed in them prior to shipping. This way, we ensure that all the parts are assembled correctly as per our stringent specifications. We apologize for the miscommunication in the past and want to make this right for both of you. See the messages below for more details about how to resolve your issues
