Just purchased my first "official" Evo
You're cool (no pun intended) with leaving it parked until the temperatures come up?
It's not just the snow. Summer tires have a compound that turns to stone below 40F.
Add moisture, and you're skiing instead of driving.
When the VIII came out in '03, it was hard to find aftermarket rims to fit over the Brembos, so I wasn't able to get winter tires on the car early.
I got caught in flurries on the A046s and regretted it. No snow accumulation, just cold water on the roads. I had no control at all.
Fortunately I had already ordered rims and Nokians for it and they arrived shortly after that.
I learned my lesson from that. After picking up my X in Dec, the first thing I did was get all-seasons for it.
(We don't usually get much snow in DC -- but we do get cold.)
Heck, just read the sticker on the door.
When the EVO first hit the US, a number of California auto journalists took the cars up into the mountains .... and crashed them, when the temperatures got low.
They've been putting those stickers on EVOs ever since.

The OEM Yokos have a short enough life already, why waste them scraping them over cold potholed roads?
If you don't want dedicated snows, at least get all-season tires that remain flexible in cold weather.
But you'll use snow tires again next year, so it's not wasted money. Especially if it saves the Yokos for warm weather, when you can get the full good out of them.
Unless you crash it this year.
Just like everyone said, do not drive in snow with those tires.. You will regret it later. Don't think, "Aww.. It'll be fine if I drive slow and careful.."
You just said that you will be getting snow for the next two months.. It's cool if you have another car an the Evo sits when there is snow out.. But do not risk it.

Yep it basically sits unless it's nice I think I've driven it 4 times and this weekend was really nice so I decided to take it to Toronto with me.
Congrats. I bought my 13 gsr at the same dealer 2012 december, i live in Cleveland, but decided to drive down to Medina, since valley Mistu guys were much better than the other two dealers i went to first.
Yeah even in an inch of snow, the Evo is no good with summer tires. I mean really really scary. The car will slide sideways on the slightest incline and it is nearly impossible to stop at times. I had to find out the hard way. I was going 25 miles an hour down slight hill and tried to stop 60-80ft before stop sign, slid all the way way through it and across street into sign at prob 5 mph. $1,200 worth of damage.
Trust me, buying some winter tires and rims is cost efficient in the long run and you can drive 8 to 10 inches of snow like it is nothing, literally, no BS and I'm lowered about an inch. Some guy was claiming he made it through drifts up to 20 plus inches, but he cracked his front lip and after taking my car up a very steep hill in at least 8 inches of snow, I actually believe it.
Also most summer tires are only rated for above 40 f. It also completely changes your perspective. I actually love it when it snows now, like I used to. Even if you have a truck or something, the evo is so fun in the snow. About 4 inches is perfect. It's like a new toy. Ordering my TR c2s wrapped in blizzaks was one of the smartest things I think I have ever done. Well I think you get the point by now.
Car looks really good btw. Always good to see another evo on the road.
