evo x acd pump
evo x acd pump
I have a 2008 evo X GSR my service light was on and found that its the ACD control so they had a update they did that the light was still on so hey told me to replace the pump which is about 2.7k all together with parts and labor. I was woundering does it hurts it if I drive it without fixing it for a while or should fix asap. Also what does it do anyways there already fluid in the rear diff. Also how can I tell its the pump and not just a line or fuse or any other possible things that can go wrong

As I've been reading before purchasing an Evo X, most of the 2008 Evo X's suffer from this issue. Driving around isn't going to hurt anything, there's a local shop that rebuilds them and another that has a replacement program of some sort, PM me if you want more information.

You can internet search for a rebuild kit. If you dont want to do it yourself, maybe a local performance shop could give you a quote on it. Send them a link to the rebuild kit via email, and see what they say. You may be taking a risk with a shop that has never done it before, but the kit comes with instructions. There's also a Youtube video of the seller doing it himself, with step by step instructions.
This is a little too anecdotal to be helpful. Finding the kits are the easy part, in that they are easily located. There are only a few spots that rebuild and thus my question. Who does this?
Additionally, if you do rebuild the pump, you need to sort out how to bleed the pump after it's installed. Unless you have a MUT, this is a challenge.
The kits tend to only prolong the life of the pump a little longer. Your best bet is to replace the pump, then protect it.

What he was telling you is to stop sending power to the pump's motor. If the pump failed in the usual way, which is plate separation (inside) due to corrosion, you pull the power so you don't burn the motor out, too. The plate can be replaced and the inside of the pump body cleaned. Fixing a dead motor is much more difficult.
