Modification Regrets?

Got this from the 1-9 General section would be interested to see this for X..

Anyone put something on their car and wished they would've gotten a different brand, part, or just straight out never did the modification in the end?

On my old X I bought a seibon carbon fiber grill piece. Biggest mistake I've made.

I bought a prosport wideband gauge in arctic white and I thought it would match my cluster but had a blueish tint to it. Ended up buying another prosport gauge but this one was evo series in white matches perfectly.

don't really have any regrets about the parts but if I had to do it over, I would focus the parts to one company instead of mixing and matching like I did. All ETS or all AMS etc.

I regret selling my ETS Recirc. DP before I installed it and went with an MXP shorty DP. Also I bought an Ultimate Racing CBE for $1K w/ Ti tips and regretted it almost instantly. Not worth the money. Sold it and bought an ETS v2, haven't looked back since. Greatest CBE on the market, hands down.

What was wrong with the UR exhaust? What mid pipe did u get with it? I personally think its the best sounding exhaust, deep throaty with a growl. Ets is nice but i feel its too quiet.

UR vs. ETS v2 Standard w/ stock cat and downpipe, yes the UR is louder. But with my v2 and test pipe. It is extremely loud. People say they hear me from like 2 blocks out.

As far as why I hated the UR? Well, the price tag didn't match the quality of the product in my opinion. Not only that the welds were 'meh' and I hated the fact that the mid pipe (no res/muffler) came in 3 pieces. The ETS has one large bent mid pipe rather than welds at every bend. I think it's a great exhaust.

I regret modding it in general. Everyone said that modding the car really brings it to life. I'm at a cobb stage 2 tune and I hate the car more then ever. It feels cheaper and some how seems like the tune is absolute crap. I'm hoping by getting a pro tune it will fix this car. I wish I would of never modded the car and got something else. Also I regret paying extra for the factory aero kit. The varis stuff looks so much better. I should went with that.

i always regretted when i tried to cheapen out of modifications, and not looking at the whole picture.
Example. For power mods, making sure the part i buy will match. Like intake -IC _ etc. The best results to not miss match them.
Any other parts on the car like body parts, or wheels - brakes etc, to not paying attention on the weight of the parts for example.
Modifying a car properly is a lot more then just look advertised numbers and price.

Never regretted any mod I put on my 8.

On my X MR I regretted just about everything I did.

I was working with a budget and bought most of my stuff used in the market place.

Nice parts but not what I would've bought had I gone with new parts.

I'm taking a much more careful and patient approach with my current Evo much like I did with the 8.

I needed brakes. Went with the MAP package because I figured rotors were a plus to take care of too. Should have just gone with 2 piece. As others have said, I was not planning on the future. Weight of these turds are going to kill me. Awesome piece but I was just thinking short term. I will not make that same mistake again.

More like a mod back to stock, but I regret buying a cat from road salty Pennsylvania instead of sunny California.

I tried to go the cheapest route to monitor wide band o2 by buying a Megan Racing down pipe and having a bung welded in by meinke. After I got it installed I discovered that the weld was already rusting (after running the car maybe a total of 60 seconds) and then also discovering it rubbed up against the drive shaft balancer. I Ended up taking it out and removing the o2 housing and am going to install the Tomei Wide Mouth, could have saved about $150. So I also say not to go the cheap route on parts. Also now my entire TB exhaust will be Tomei.
