You don't have to edit your post. I think you might just not understand the material. It's only a sign when somebody makes it into a sign. I mean our cars are made of soda cans formed into a car.
I can see it as a splitter yea. I'm sorry I misread or interpreted wrong.
Thinking folks are making essentially a full undertray out of it. Going all the way underneath the car and just screwing it to the bumper and whatever else they can
I know what Alumilite is, and aware it can be bought as raw material. But it is primarily used in the market for making signs

I saw a lotus with Alumilite side splitters and they looked like he bought high dollar ones.
I'm going to a sailboat place to find support rods for the splitter (turnbuckles). They are nice and made to last in adverse conditions.
But to each their own. I don't expect people to put things on their cars that they don't like just like I don't want things in my car that I don't like.
As far as regulations. The class I would be in allows the splitter to go 5" past the bumper and back to the front axels. How you mount it isn't regulated.

But because it's used to make signs you don't think it's good for a splitter? I wouldn't be surprise if high dollar teams use it. I heard some use plywood. I know of a top Redline time attack team that made a flat underbody and diffusor out of it.
Splitters are basically a consumable item. If you are using it for it's intended purpose and mounting it the way it should be mounted (as close to the ground as possible) then it's going to wear out.
If somebody is looking to hard park at their local meet, maybe a pretty carbon one will be better. Although I kind of like the thinness of the dibond/Alumilite panels. I'm actually replacing my carbon side splitters with Dibond.

I started the process of making the splitter this weekend. I only got as far as cutting two of them out. I was able to make 4 side splitters. Two for me to replace my damaged Forcewerkz ones and 2 for a friend.

And here is the start of the splitter. Don't mind the tore up moulding on the front. I was just getting and idea of whether or not I wanted to go with moulding. I kind of like the thin sharp look on the side splitters and front splitter.
I'll start a build thread when I get into it. It's going to be trial and error for my first attempt. I'm sure once I get it installed I'll be making updates over time as new ideas pop up.

A little update. Going to start a build thread once done but here is where I'm at so far.
Used the Aluminum 1x1 x 1/8 channel for a spacer to get it parallel with the ground. I'm building a dam so you won't see it. I also have the support rods just waiting for the clevises to arrive.
This is where 16 hours of my weekend went and it's not done!
But the next one will be much easier now that I have done one and learned what not to do.
