gurgling sound when letting off the throttle...

So I have recently had some issues with SES and codes popping up on my 11 GSR. I am still working on what is causing the codes to pop (P0012 and P0017) but have another concern.

I don't know if I have just never noticed or if it just started happening but I hear a very faint gurgling sound when I let off the throttle around 3500 RPM in 3rd and 4th gear. I tried to capture it in video but just can't get the sound to record right. Anyone else notice this? Do I have an exhaust leak?

No one?

So the sound is more of a dododododododo instead of a smooth dooooooooo when you let off the gas. Anyone else hear this?

Sounds like a lot of doodoo. Better check your pants.

On a related note, have you replaced your fuel pump relays?? They tend to go bad.

When someone says that their turbocharged car makes any kind of fluttering or gurgling noise when they lift off the gas, I immediately wonder if they have an aftermarket compressor bypass valve (aka diverter valve, aka [incorrectly] blow-off valve) that isn't set properly. But I don't see that mentioned in your signature.

The P0012 and P0017 is a bit more worrisome that an off-throttle noise. There's a chance that you've stretched your chain.

I suspected a stretched chain so I took it into a dealer and they said the chain is fine...tried swapping the sensors (intake to exhaust) and vice versa and only the exhaust code comes on so the sensors seem fine too.

I took the valve cover off and did a visual check on the chain after the dealer to verify and it seems fine (forgot to do the TDC part though...arrrggghhh). the car runs fine and idles smooth as I mentioned...

I have no idea what to do now other than maybe change the oil control solenoid to see if that is faulty.

no aftermarket BPV here, just thought it was weird I started to hear the sound after I started getting the codes. probably nothing.

been trying to get a hold of STM in Rochester to take a look but man those guys do not know how to return a call. 2 calls and 3 emails later, still no reply from STM. I guess they don't want my business.

Can you tell how bad the timing is being retarded from AP logs?

good point. i will check that too. can a faulty pump or relay cause timing to retard enought for a code?

Well I know it causes lack of fuel when under WOT or at a certain amount of throttle. But you should be able to tell assuming you have a wideband. Either way it doesn't hurt to change out the FPR. They are not that expensive and personally I change mine out every year, along with my plugs.

Yeah I have some new spark plugs on the way from MAP and will check the relay today after work.

I did some logging on the way home last night but didn't see a log setting for timing retarding. just ignition advance and target. Anyway to tell if the timing is being pulled too much from these logs?
