Congratulation I think you made the right choice and ive been looking at both as well but from previously owning a evo and now looking at both I went a test drove a new STI and and although I think it looks great and is more comfortable it just didn't have the same thrill the EVO gives me. But both cars are great cars cant go wrong with either.

If someone is still following this post:

- As per NAFTA, you can't import a used car that is not compliant (66% of the components must come from north america)
- You can import any car from any country if and only if it comes directly from there, is new, and pays its duties (30-50% extra tax)

OP said he is long term in Mexico.

to the OP: contact me, I'm sort like the evo club mex founder

Extra: what we get here is an EDM spec evo x GSR

Two weeks ago I went to the track with STI club, I owned them and I'm almost stock (TBE, FMIC, drop in filter, stock ECU map). The evo all the way

You're running these mods without being tuned?

If the sti currently has ringland problems with it's EJ motor, what problems will the 2015 Evo carry?

Nothing remotely close to that core problem. I think you have to worry about some extra rattles maybe?

its good to know that evo prices are going up but i feel bad for you and feel the pain.
thats why i wanted to buy a new one even tho its a burden to make monthly payment for a new car.
Good luck for your search!

No question, hands down the evo. It's a better car all around and i have a loaded gsr so the interior isn't bad to me. Out performs in everything! I never once regretted buying my 14 X over any STI.

They are not similar. The Evo X driven to its extremes responds like a SuperCar. The STi has symmetrical AWD and when driven on a racetrack responds with chronic understeer.

if your going to stay Japanese I would pick the evo hands down, but at the end of the day only you can make that decision. its all comes down to what you like!

In my opinion, It really comes down to what YOU like. Drive both and experience what both have to offer. I love both. Personally, I have a 2014 Evo X GSR which I am actually selling bc I'm moving, BUT I love it. The handling, the mean look, and of course the power. That engine can and will impress. HOWEVER, I love Subbys too! I've had an 04 STI in WRB and of course there isn't anything like that rumble. Anyway GL and all the best.
