clunk heard and felt in park when brake pedal applied

I have a 2013 MR with 14000 miles.
When I push the brake pedal to shift into drive, there is an audible mechanical actuation sound that occurs and I feel it through the shift knob. It does seem to come from the center console.
This is not the break clunk sound heard at slow speeds that I have found plenty of posts about. I have that as well
Any Ideas?
Thank You

This is normal. I think it's the shift interlock mechanism that requires the brake to be pressed before it lets you shift out of park.

Looks like I'm going to have it looked at even though the dealership is 100 miles away. I do believe it is the interlock. It’s so prominent now raid it might break and keep me out of drive.

I’ll post the outcome.
Thanks

Definitely the interlock to prevent you from shifting out of park without the break. I've noticed on past cars that it gets more audible after about 10-15k. This is also the point where I start relaxing over any manufacturer defects and then notice a noise and get a bit on edge.

I have heard the same thing and was nervous about it. Glad to hear it is to be expected... This is the stuff I came to this forum for!

The dealership said it was a normal interlock sound as expected.
I was hoping they would fix a loose rocker panel but luckily they were able to get out of that noting some rubber marks from underneath.
It was not worth the 100 mile trip.

Thanks for the input.

I am having a similar problem on my 2012 MR but mine occurs when I am reversing into a parking space and I apply the brake pedal and I hear a clunk but it only occurs when I am reversing at a slow speed and coming to a stop.

That sounds like the standard brake clunk to be expected.
