ix or x
That's why you get a cheap commuter car that gets good gas mileage. Save the evo for weekend drives and track days. The charm of an Evo is quickly lost while sitting in traffic.
I just don't need like the idea of spending all that money for a car and let it just sit most of the time while I drive around in some beater. I knew now "rough" the Evos were when considering a new car for DD duties. DDing a X is not that bad.
I am looking for a 03-06 evo but with the stupid a$$ price
That private sellers and dealers are posting I have started liking the evo x more.
16k-30k for a used 03-06 evo 8 or 9 lol, you can get an x with low miles for good prices with half the miles.

I bought the IX as my weekend & track day car. Would not consider the X due to the alum block, extra 300 lbs & limp mode
I love my CT9A w/its 4G63 & easy & safe to reach high HP levels. More NVH
Sure, the X can be made to compete but I feel the X is more of a worthy road car & the other EVO's were bread for competing. Just look at what they did w/the rear end susp members on the X (the bean counters cheapened it)
Will never own one but still respect you X owners!

I own both cars (iV is not running atm) but they both have pretty much the same mods.
the iv is faster in straight line, but my X always blows my mind and does some stupid **** I when im hooling around and puts the biggest smile on my face. my iv just wont do the same "MAGIC" the x does.
either way, I could see myself selling my x at some time, but id never sell my iv even though I hate the dash with every bit of my being.

Worth to mention, just came in. Lots of opinions here, so this thread also need some hard real life facts too sometimes, just to not lost on track (every evo generation is a purposely build rally car ).
CRC ( Canadian Rally Championship) Where many Subaru and even a Subaru factory team runs. Many Evos including VIII - IX and so on. SO as WRC mini participate
The 2014 Champion is a 2008 Mitsubishi Evolution X privateer team ( this year they could run all the rally, have to add on this, they had a found for it) won by the perfect sweep of the championship.
There was no match to this car.

Well, Antoine's driving and knowledge of every rally in Canada may have played a small role, too.
Plus, it's worth mentioning that that car has the rear diif from an VIII and a transmission that came in no stock Evo. Only the engine-block and chassis are from an Evo X. Not even the locations of the upper-shock mounts are original.
But if anyone plans to throw 75% of the car away and build a new one starting with only the chassis and engine, I agree that starting with an X is better for rally. Way more expensive, but better.

( i have to say though , he is my favorite driver by far )
The X is not more expensive when you build and Open Class car. Ask me how do i know.

AYC is not allowed in rally in ANY class. Wonder why... The shock mount for the rear i guess why you mentioned. It is an R4 Kit which is allows more suspension travel so needs a different cage also. They made for every Evo generations, it is not a X specific.
Base line is, before you try to twist this around, EVERY OPEN CLASS evo has a close or same mods or even more, depends on the builder and the budget. Including VII or IX etc. It is just a pure fact.
Also worth to mention the Production class where Boris runs his Evo X in a same championship , he also wins over other cars when he runs it.
The X is a better car. Hence of the name evolution. Fact, not an opinion. Unless you called a fact an opinion, and the opinion a fact.

I know both builds veery well.

didnt these two the biggest argument against the X ????

RKT Evos i think are better build and just as strong (Blue Evo IX), i am not a fan too much about Buffum build. Too much old school for me. ( Evo X, i know you know this for others )
