dd'ng vs buying a beater

so my current commute is 30miles round trip a day.
job is getting outsourced and i'm close to getting a new job that is ~75miles round trip a day. big paycut but a stable job is a job.

evo is paid off.

debating if it's worth it to dd the evo and put miles on her (2010 with 26k miles)
as opposed to buying something like a honda fit that gets ~35+ mpg or something else used for the new commute. i guess i kinda feel like all those highway miles are wasted as i'm not "enjoying" it. thoughts? i could either

a) **** it and put miles on her
b) buy a used dd beater
c) do choice A and save $ for a full engine rebuild down the line when it's needed

i could also sell the evo and just buy something outright and leave the evo scene as i won't be able to come back later unless i buy a used one.

i had a commute of liek 50 or 60 miles a day i put it on the evo at first for a little while. Felt bad rackin up the milage that quick since i had worked hard to keep it low so i ended up just getting a daily for like 3 k and have been driving it ever since! Its great to take it to like sporting events or stuff where the evo might get a door ding or something. I ended up going with a 2000 acura RL i didnt care much about milage i just wanted a big comfortable car lol

stick to it.

I say rack up the mileage. You could testify to what breaks at certain mileages. And stay in the scene.

I'd get a beater the gas mpg's in this car are horrible and you'll just run it into the ground if you work there long term. What about option C - Move closer to job and DD your car?

I prefer the beater car and keeping the Evo in pristine condition. Its always nice to have a dedicated weekend car.

There is no way I'm putting that type of mileage on my race cars, that's what crap cars were made for.

vote for c or a.
if you do get a beater, you would also need to get extra insurance and registration.
I think at the end, the money you save is little to none.
I live in LA and my daily commute is 64 miles round trip. I travel on 60 fwy and 10 fwy daily and the traffic can be brutal and I still manager to get 20-24 mpg with random pulls here and there. Of course, I have my own smart routes that tries to avoid most heavy traffic sections when needed.

If I would get a beater that gets me 30+ mpg in traffic, I can only see myself save 1 gallon / day... that is like only 3.5 dollars or a little less at current rate. Would you sacrifice your fun in an EVO for 3.5 dollars?
I know I wouldn't .

I know I wouldn't .

Fuel economy has nothing to do with it, burning up mileage is what matters.

yea it's not the mileage per say, it's putting mileage sitting on a freeway as opposed to enjoying the mileage on a track or weekend ****ing around...

whats wrong with racking up miles?
Op even had a plan to rebuild in the future.
Are you talking about maintaining cost?
Are you worried about depreciating your car too fast?
As much as I love my EVO and I wouldn't trade it for anything, I don't see why people treat it like a 100k+ super car.
Plenty people commute with a 30k+ cars.
