Need some advice on SST build or move on..

Hi guys-

The lease on my 2010 MR is almost up. Had a blast with this car. Love the SST dual clutch and all it gives you. Very easy to drive fast. Could use another 100 HP though- IMO to give it more mid/upper. No problems in 4 years, other than the paint sucks and interior is cheap, but is rally's like no other 45K car stock imo.

Really want to get into a GTR
Really don't want to spend 65-75K for a 2012. Considering FBO 2009 but take your chances there...

Considering the Gates 311 model at around 54K but it is such a hassle to try and get info from them and it looks like it could be 6months to a year. Base version is only 350hp.

So I am considering buying from a forum member or such a modified MR with SST.

My question is for the people that have either modified the SST or have driven/owned one- Is it worth it? Can you get anything about 350HP without possibly blowing it or do you really need to go to the manual to be safe? I saw a forum members car on here that I believe had sold that stated around 330 WHP that looked really nice. It is just difficult to have an idea on the speed improvement without having driven one.

My goal is a daily driver faster than my MR with a lean towards AWD due to being in Salt Lake/UT.

Other options might be RS4 but that looks like next year/Same with Focus RS.
What ya think? CLA AMG while faster the DC sucks.

That number is completely attainable. As long as you keep the torque at or below 350 you should be fine, and you can even go a bit beyond that with upgraded clutchpacks. Kozmic Motorsports is a phenomenal tuner for SST transmissions and even do e-tunes if you are not near them. (I am lucky they are here in Houston where I live)

As long as you don't go for like 600hp the MR is completely viable for modifications, and sounds like it would be ideal for the range you are looking. (Nothing crazy)

I will be shooting for the same power levels later this year, and all my research has found that it is fine and should be safe and reliable like always.

If I were you, I would take a roadtrip to a great tuner, get it modded and tuned, then drive home. E-tunes are ok but I don't think anything can beat hands on time with a dyno and a pro physically touching your car. Salt Lake isn't that far from Houston

Why not just get yours when out of the lease since you've had it since new and mod accordingly? Just curious...

SST is rated at 400 tq max at the input shaft. How that equates to wheel tq depends on drivetrain loss and your dyno's config.

why don't you just build the car you already have....its not a lot of work,

to make the evo the perfect car in my opinion you just need a few mods

MHI 18k turbo upgrade made by mistubishi for your car.
Intercooler upgrade
Fuel injectors 1000cc deatchwerks
Fuel pump c265 Deatchwerks
Eibach lowering springs
Cams and dodson clutches...

let eric from kozmic work on your car....

these mods will cost around 6 to 8 k

your car will push 400+ to the wheels

but if you wanna do that racing channel **** then might as well get a gtr.......

If you do decide to keep it, see if you can talk Mitsubishi into replacing your timing chain for free as the pre-2011 models had an issue with the timing chain stretching over time and causing issues.
