Gauge install labor costs

I want to do a boost, oil pressure and AFR gauge setup. This is not something I want to do myself as I want it to be done right. Anyone have some ideas what the labor cost for something like this would be? Thank you.

Anywhere from $150-$350 or so. Hard to say unless you know where you're going to take the car.

Honestly - installing those gauges is pretty easy (but will be time consuming). Might help you learn your car a bit better if you do it yourself (and you need minimal tools, and there is already how-to threads here or on evox for all of them).

Do you have a test pipe/down pipe that has a bung for the wideband? Do you know where you want to mount the gauges?

I'd expect it to be more than $150, but getting them all done at the same time would probably net you a discount (as the dash / mounting area will only have to be pulled apart once). $150-$350 seems to be a good range.

I do all my bolt ons and anything in general im comfortable with. Electronics for some reason steer me away. If i did them it would be all 3 at once And when i can the ets open downpipe with a bung in it. Im going to run them on the pillar with an ortiz pod.

The above posters are right, it's going to be in the $200 neighborhood for the labor alone.

Make one of those. Tap the cig lighter fuse and wire to dist block, wire ground from dist block to chassis. Wire all three gauges to dist block. Wideband sensor will come through the pass through under the passenger seat where the secondary 02 sensor already is wired though. Run it up under the carpet along the center console to the glove box and then over to the gauges. Oil pressure sensor can be mounted in the spare bung immediately above the oil filter (or using a plate that fits between the filter and car). It's the one that takes a rather large hex key. Pass wires though the firewall near the main loom or alternatively run them down through the front fender and through the grommet in the foot well. Boost sensor can be tapped off pretty much any one of the lines running away from the intake manifold. Just need an appropriately sized vacuum tee. Usually they come with the sensor but often are the wrong size... but autozone sells a bag with a bunch of sizes. Make sure to zip tie that sucker on there good. Pass wires as above... or pass vac line if you are running an analogue gauge.

Don't let the electronics scare you. You really are only tapping one fuse. It's easy to completely reverse if something goes wrong (unlikely). You just have to pull that tap and put the cig lighter fuse back in. That's it...

Dude that's awesome. Thanks! Where can I find that gauge pod or one like it? I like the placement.

That's a good question. That's not my write-up that I linked, but I did use his distribution block idea. I'm not sure where he got that gauge pod. I personally have one of these and the fitment is near perfect:

http://cp-e.com/webstore/product/mit...vox-gauge-pod/

I'm also 6'4" so it doesn't block my visibility... but I could see it annoying a shorter person.

Depending on how you decide to install your oil pressure gauge, you may need one of these:

If you use a sandwich plate (between the oil filter and engine) you won't need that... but if you use that spare bung, you will. They also make one without the 45" elbow for oil temp (smaller sensor that doesn't require the elbow bend for clearance).

It is fairly easy to install the boost gauge I just did mine this weekend it may be confusing but you quickly figure it out. Make sure you attach the 12v wire to the ignition fuse and if the gauges are AEM the t-fitting doesn't work for the vacuum line. The install took me and a friend 7 hours lol we had no idea how to do it original and ran the wires to the wrong fuse box but most of the time was spent looking to see what fuse to attach it to. Just have patience and lots of beer if you're going to do it your self. I honestly would say save your money and do it your self. I'm doing AFR next with in the next month or so.

Have you gone through with this the installation yet OP? I'll be doing the same thing soon and feel the same way about the electronics part.
