Hey guys

Just want to get a general point of view about the stock CMC reliability if I am not using aftermarket clutch , my Evo is manufactured in October 2012 and its Jdm spec

Those who are still using stock CMC can you please post your Evo year and km done and if there is any sign of it start to fail

Much appreciated thanx

i am , with 24+K miles. I think when you do upgrade the clutch to hold higher TQ, then you might have a problem.

On my 2008 GSR worked fine, until i had an Exedy stage 2 single disc clutch installed. Less then 1000 miles after it get installed the plastic CMC broke in half. The car had less then 10K miles back then.
Why it broke i am just guessing, maybe because of the clutch upgrade? I dont know for sure.
Also the 2014 GSR i drive daily , might have an upgraded CMC, since its 6 years younger then my other one.
That is my story.

Rob

PS: but its a relatively easy upgrade . We used the AP CMC. just bolts on. Working perfect since, and now i am using a twin Exedy with it. The feel and engagement is stellar with this CMC.

I guess when you upgrade to a different aftermarket clutch , it may require more fluid pressure , thats why the stock CMC being plastic housing broke.

because I am from New Zealand , the AMS CMC are pretty expensive to get it shipped over here , do you have a link to the AP CMC ? my local provider recommended me getting http://www.maperformance.com/maperfo...shi-evo-x.html

but at this stage , I want to hold back from spending any more money , already spend money on new eng/gearbox/diff oil service , new Lathewerks shift knob , detailing product.

maybe a few months in I will take a look at upgrading the stock CMC

that is a reason i pointed out the AP. Ill be honest i have no idea after 5 years what is a item number or where i got it from. But if you contact with AP, i am sure they would be glad to help you out.
Maybe download this picture and send it to them.

My personal opinion is, i do trust AP more then MAP. We all know AP is a stellar racing product company, so... But its your choice.

Maybe this is it , but i am def. not sure of that. Contact them and use my pics.

Probably the wrong thread but.. I swapped out my stock CMC when I upgraded to a Competition Stage 3 clutch as a preservative matter. I bought the mounting kit, but aftermarket CMC instead of the OEM Evo IX one. It's been replaced twice now and I just bought the OEM IX to give that a shot. Don't cheap out!
