Evo X ETS v2 standard exhaust install question

I recently ordered the ETS v2 standard exhaust it arrived this week and I am planning on installing it this weekend. My question is will I need to trim the heat-shield where the mid-pipe connects to the factory downpipe/Cat? Any other pointers would also be appreciated, Thanks.

If by standard, do you mean cat-back? Then yes, you will need to trim that heat shield piece. I personally just flared out the heat shield with a pry bar and it fit perfectly. That way there aren't any edges to deal with when having to go under the car for anything.

Pointers? Aligning flanges is your friend. Bolt everything together, but leave wiggle room to adjust. A slight adjustment on the midpipe end can significantly affect the rear section. And good luck!

I too flared out that piece of metal covering the flange of the cat. ETS does make a flange adaptor/spacer so you don't have to mess with the cat at all. Aside from this the install is incredibly simple. I shouldn't take you more than a 45 minutes

Yes, I have the cat-back v2; with the adapter flange for a stock Cat. Thanks for the tip I think flaring the heat-shield will be easier.

If you have the adapter you shouldn't need to trim/bend anything

You will still need to trim the heat shield under the car with the adapter. The adapter flange allows our large 3.0" exhaust to seal against the smaller factory flange.

Thanks!

Flaring out the heat-shield should work in place of trimming it? - Michael.

What I did: Bent the heat shield a lot, hooked up the mid pipe with the cat using the ETS gasket and I bought a size smaller bolts and nuts instead of using the oem bolt. Bolted it up that way and it has worked fine. I then used some metal shear trimmers to trim the bent shield pieces sticking out too much.

Yes, you could flare the heat shield instead.

Thanks!

Agreed on the simplicity of this install.. shouldn't take more than hour. Just take the factory cat out and put the ETS test pipe in
