Once the Last New Evo is sold... What happens???
As far as resale value goes the supra is an outlier and will drop as soon as they become available for import from japan. Stock Evos and well maintained modded evos will likely increase in value in the near future due to stopped production. As far as rarity goes though the car was produced for 9 years, I still rarely see evos out and about. If I could estimate id say that as far as numbers go stis outnumber evos 5 to 1 in terms of numbers produced and purchased. A lot of people just cant afford evos. They are automatically more expensive because of the insurance, which leads to neutral individuals buying more Stis. I'm coming over from a 3000gt Vr4 and I could not see myself owning any rally type car other than an Evo. I have a feeling the X will go the way of the 99 Vr4 which is starting to leap significantly in value.
I own a supra and they will not drop , RHD supras have less HP different Twin Turbos as well as there are no parts for RHD supras , US LHD supras will continue to go up and up in price. For some reason and idk why its the only car that iv seen where the RHD is way less then the LHD version

The J Spec Supra TT's came with turbo CT20 with ceramic turbine wheels, which made them weaker.... And technically the C12 that's in the stock USDM Supra are actually smaller.
The stock fuel injectors where also smaller and asthmatic in the JDM Supra.
The only issue is when you start to run into the VVTi blocks.
All past Mitsubishi's vehicles says... No. Clean unmolested examples? Sure I agree that they'll hold a nice value, but value near and or above MSRP as a used vehicle? Nope.

Long time lurker... not really a poster since I'm still trying to get more info on the X but this thread has me giggling.
You guys are delusional if you think the EVO X is going hold its value like the Toyota MKIV Supra and the Acura NSX.
And please note that the only Supra I’m talking about is the MKIV generation.
If any EVO is actually going to hold their value it sure as heck not going to be the X but the VI.
Also do you realize why the VIII, IX and X won't? Because we still have a alternative that are going to be better than the going out X actually fits the EVO's niche market.

Actually when I sold my Supra (1993.5 Twin Turbo with automatic, 93k miles, 3inch dp, HKS 4inch Ti racing exhuast, manual boost controller, other misc crap) in 2011 for the price and mileage I felt it was fair to sell for around 19~23k. Got 21k for it and thought that was fair.
Looking at the market now, cars with even higher mileage are going for 30k +. APU cars that would never have broke into the 40k have owners asking for 60k + for them.
Also around this time I was looking at early five speed NSX and if it wasn't a hard top with decent miles you could get them around the 20~40k. Now its hard to find a decent NSX with under 90k miles that isn't going for 40k +.
I don't want to look like a dbag and make a definitive statement about the X's pricing but I just don't see them as something you should buy now in the case of it holding value.

Parts are interchange as far as I can remember.

You've said the same thing now 4 times. We get how you feel. You don't have a crystal ball, and neither do I. Time will tell. Isn't there a Supra forum for you?
Mitsu dealers can't give Evo's away right now, and there is a very good reason.
Notice the several thousand dollar price drop at most dealers from MSRP.
I get you love your car, but you know jack **** about the car market.
They are sitting on dealer's lots because there are about 5 better cars out right now/coming out soon that either cost less or the same as the last of the Evo's, and Mitsu went out of the game like *****es. The Final Edition is an absolute joke.

The Evo is an awesome car, there is not doubt about it. But it has not been updated since 2008, that's right, 8 years of exactly the same car has put it behind the times. And yes, I ran right out and bought a 2014 Evo when I heard the 2015 was going to be the last year, but I didn't buy it because it was the best thing on the market in it's price range it at the time, I wanted one of the last Evo's because I have owned several over the years. The nostalgia factor.
1. The new RS. I don't care if anyone other than magazine reviewers have driven one yet, I can guarantee you it is going to smoke the Evo in almost all facets, there is just no getting around it. Ford is showing they are down to take over the hot hatch market that most manufacturers have all but abandoned.
2. The new WRX, not the Sti. Pound for pound, dollar for dollar a better choice than the Evo. I imagine once Subaru drops the WRX motor into the Sti, this one will move up a notch.
3. Golf R now and soon to be the R400 even more so if it hits stateside.
4. 2016 Mustang GT - Don't care that it isn't a rally car.
5. Dodge Challenger/Charger Scat Pack - Not a rally car either, scary performance for the price.
6. Don't want to speculate on models that are not stateside confirmed yet, but the new Type R is probably going to abuse the Evo too.
7. Go $5000 over the $40k max I stuck to with the list above, and you have even more choices and even more examples of better cars.
Did you buy your car just to auto x? Does it live in your garage all week and just go to the track on the weekend? I doubt it.
80% of people bought their Evo to commute in it and occasionally have some fun behind the wheel.
The nostalgia factor is still there, but Evo's are sitting on dealer lots because Mitsu went out like *****es and anyone who isn't blind to logic knows this car is not going to appreciate in value over the years like maybe only 1-2 cars in history have. Dumb kids buy them, cut into them, mod them stupidly and the used car market suffers because of this stigma.
I was hoping some no nothing like yourself would jump in. You fan boys and your blind love for "whatever you currently own" is just getting flat out dumb.

Ok, lets see. Transaction prices on Evos currently are around $32k. So, here it goes--1. The new RS is $10k more. You haven't driven one, neither have I. Maybe it'll be better, maybe not. $10k more, just in case you forgot.
2. The new WRX is a piece of s*it. Brake based torque vectoring, no LSD, crap 6 speed (not the STI unit) and an engine that people are having a hard time keeping together with simple boltons. Check nasioc. Plenty of threads.
3. Golf R has an awd system incapable of sending more than 50% to the rear, no AYC or LSD. It's also $5k more for a base car. Also, with the VW, you're buying a VW. I worked for 15 years at a VW store. If you don't know what a VW looks like past warranty, you shouldn't speak.

4. Mustang GT- completely different class of vehicle. Might as well compare oranges and llamas

5. Challenger- see Mustang above. If performance to dollar was your yardstick, go buy an old foxbody for $5k, then put $10k into it, and you'll be faster than a GTR.
6. Type R- yes, and Teslas abuse pretty much everything else. Your point? You have none.
7. Yes, and if you go $40k over your budget, even more cars are better. Logic is your friend.
My car is my fourth Evo, I bought one (again) because I knew I wouldn't be able to buy a new one again, and because I liked it for what it is. My car sits in the garage, and goes out when I go to Lime Rock with www.scda1.com or I just feel like driving it. Its not without its flaws, but nothing is. For the price that they can be had now, there is nothing that can touch it (within its class). Your "point" saying that kids buy them and cut them up just makes the unabused examples worth more. Just look at the Evo 8s and 9s. To buy a mint example with under 40000 miles you need to spend $30k. From what I remember, they sold brand new for less. The X has the issue that far more were produced and generally were not as popular, but time will tell.
The RS is not 10k more, the RS is 36k MSRP, and the Evo is 35K MSRP.
Will some dealers try to pull that "second sticker" bs with it? Probably, but only morons will fall for that.
The point is, there are a ton more, non outdated cars that buyers are flocking to buy, and the Evo is sitting on lots taking up space. You were right, logic is your friend. Will this translate into higher Evo value prices down the road? No, it will not, and I am not saying they are about to fall off a cliff either.
The WRX is a piece of **** eh? Been behind the wheel of one? I sure have. Lack of LSD and a 6th gear for cruising does not take away from the fact it is an excellent handling car with great power for the price. We are talking about buying new cars here, not used ones. We are also talking about stock cars, not taking a car and modding it.
To buy a mint 8 or 9 that's stock and under 40K you are spending 30k? Who is spending 30k? And where are those examples?
I guess you didn't want to touch on my points about who the majority of Evo owners are and what they do with their cars either right?
I'm sure you are just the typical fan boy, and I know you ran out and bought a FE, but you should at least be smart enough to realize you bought a car that wasn't worth the coin you paid and call a spade a spade.

Yes, an RS stickers for $36k and change, but you will not be buying one for that any time soon, much like the GT350 that has $15k "adjusted market value" at pretty much EVERY Ford dealer. Not sure the RS will be that high, but $5k is probably in the ball park, which still makes it $10k more than a $32k Evo you can go buy TODAY. Is that sinking in?Yes, the WRX is a piece of s*it. Drove one before buying my FE, as I had already had 3 Evos and the idea of saving some money did cross my mind. Brakes suck, handling isnt as sharp, turbo runs out of steam by 5,000 rpm. No thanks. I am the type of person that would modify a car, and all the stories on nasioc turned me off the car. Buying an Evo to keep it stock is like dating a hot girl and never doing it, to preserve her for the next guy.
If you'd like to see what unmolested low mile 8s and 9s go for, go to one of the many facebook pages, the classifieds in this forum and cars.com or autotrader. They're at a point where they're selling for the same or more than new, for the good examples.
I'm not sure what your point was about the "what the owners" do, so I can't address it.
If you think I'm a fanboy, that's fine by me, but at least I call them as I see them. You on the other hand, are delusional.
Delusional is the Evo owner that cannot fathom how in a market over flowing with available cars, the prices are going to rise on one after a few years.
Hardly anyone pays 30k for an 8 or 9, mostly because the type of buyer that wants them, cannot obtain financing for one. There are not an abundance of hard core Evo guys who are paying 15k over book value for an Evo cash. Are there wealthy Evo moguls out there I am unaware of? Show me the listing for an 8 or 9 that is stock with low mileage that has sold for 30k. Not ASKING 30k but one that has actually sold for that amount recently. Maybe, just maybe there are a couple exceptions, but that is certainly not the norm.
So check back on here in a couple years when you are trying to unload that Evo for what you owe on it, I'll be happy to hit you with an "I told you so".

Yeah, don't worry about me "dog".

You obviously know jack **** about the car market let's just be real.
So a dealer is going to give you above KBB trade in value (which is already high to begin with) for you 2014 Evo? Where? What dealer? Dealers would be out of business if they were over paying for cars like that. You are right, I am in the business of buying and driving a ton of cars, I am not some douchebag dealer either.
Now that we are off of that ridiculous post, why not enlighten us as to why the new 2015 Evo's are all over dealer lots and straight up not moving. Please school my obviously oblivious *** as to why these gems are sitting right now and dealers are slashing thousands off them like they are having a fire sale.
That right there may be the most hilariously retarded comment in the history of this forum

The examples in green are above average condition. These pricese DO NOT include the $500 buy fee and transport. You do the math how much profit one should make. First one, 2006 Evo

Then, just for you, a 2014 Evo

So where are all of those 30k evo 8's and 9's you were talking about? One with 26k on the clock sold for 22.5 which that is crazy high as it is.
Most of the 14's you pulled with average mileage are around 25k. So tell me where you are going to trade in your 2014 base evo with 15k for 28 grand. Go ahead and call a few dealers up and show me one that is down to do that. As a matter of fact, I bet you would have a hard time trading in a base 2015 gsr with 10k on it for 28k right now. Again, go ahead and call a few dealers.
You do realize that private owners with a license buy and sell cars through Manheim too right? Ignorance really must be bliss when it comes to simpletons like you.
