Do we need oil catch cans? Anyone got 1 in their car?

I am in no way a mechanic so i usually take my car to even get the oil changed. But i used to have a PERRIN oil catch can for my evo 8 because back then.. i was told i needed it.

My question now is.. Do we need a catch can for daily use?i should most likely be able to use my same old *** catch can from my evo 8 to my evo x... right? Its just... i see TONS of catch can options for the evo 8 and 9 but i do not for the X... so idk.

Does anyone have any pictures of your catch cans installed and connected? I'm also clueless where the connections would go.. so images would help.

Companies such as Kozmic and Drivenfab make good products. Checkout their websites. These are just two options amongst many.

There's quite a bit of catch cans. Radium, Cusco, Kozmic, SSP, Driven, I'm sure there's more but I can't quite remember lol Anyway connections are from pcv to intake manifold. Then valve cover to intake.

I have the Driven Fab v3 catch can. Is it needed? Not really. But its definitely good to have. Blowby can lower the octane rating of the fuel, so completely eliminating it from re-entering the intake stream is comforting. In colder climates, you'll catch condensation along with oil. I just emptied a full water bottle worth of crap within 3000 miles.

A lot of that is from the heat and condensation created in the catch can itself, but sure...it's not a bad thing to have. Stock car? It's engine bay bling. Boost-up/E85/Cams/turbo updrade/track-car: it's a good investment.

I am thinking about installing a Maperformance Oil Catch Can on my EVO X but have read many blogs that this will fail a SMOG test?
I am in TX, so anyone had any issues with SMOG testing?

Thanks.
