Really considering trading Focus RS for a new Evo X. Need input.
who else waits a year for a car then flips it for something else in the same category for no proven reason?
It's his money and preference, he doesn't have to prove anything nor give a reason.
Ten Walls,
Is your screen name "Not Exactly" on focusrs.org? What's up, man? It's Myau!
Unless you're going to track and modify extensively, keep your RS, man. As rare as they are trickling into dealerships right now, they will probably hold their value well, and you'd probably regret it.
Do I think the X is a superior car and a better canvas for mods? Yes. But if you get one and don't like it, there won't be an easy do-over. Evos have historically held their value extremely well, but if you get an FE and want out, you're gonna lose your face on it.
I struggled with wanting an RS, but I had to rationalize my way out of it due to what I want in a car.
Google "hedonic treadmill". This is so true with car purchases.
Take care!

The one thing I will add, is if you want a new car... it may be worth trying to get an Evo NOW. Once they are gone, they are gone. The RS will keep trickling in. If you get the Evo and hate it, sell it and get another RS (or w/e car you want). I can't fully recommend getting an Evo over an RS as I haven't had the chance to drive one yet. But I'm sure the RS will hold it's own as a weekend track car. The CZ4A (X) is a hell of a platform, if you truly want one I say go for it since time is of the essence.
Then again u should figure out 100% what u want before u drop 40k on something so yeah I'm assuming he is a spoiled brat haha

That's a crazy resale price, considering it's just a X with downgraded seats.
The jury is still out on it bring a decent track car. So far, it likes to overheat and go into FWD mode. Most of us are very glad we didn't sell our Evo to jump ship. We'll see what kind of fixes people come up with.

I can tell you the FE is definitely more than a normal X. English is getting crazy numbers out of them. There is something very different in terms of power delivery vs my '11 GSR and '08 MR. First track day is friday in it. So will see how she does. Supposed to be 95deg that day though
. Will see how bad the seats really are, but I feel like they have the same support as my IX MR did. Saving up for Japan Recaro SR7 lassics regardless.
Location, baby. You can get an FE here for $3000 off MSRP. People are selling used RSs for sticker and sometimes a little above. This has nothing to do with quality and everything to do with availability or lack thereof.
Someone posted a lame autocross video in an RS and I can say that it understeers quite a lot, in some of the situations I know for a fact the evo would not push like that and if you do it right might actually oversteer some, I have a feeling some of it was driver error but IMO a lot of it is the car. It has to be on standard MPSS, Cup 2 would hold firm.
I traded in my X for a RS. Partly because I was curious about the platform, and mostly because I absolutely hated the MR transmission (settle down folks, it's just not as engaging for me).
I can't really remember how my X felt stock, but I know, as with most cars, I'm doing whatever I can to squeeze more power out of the RS. It's quick, in its own right, but pretty dull on a normal commute. Probably much like the X from the factory. However, with the RS, I can get groceries without people looking at me like I'm a 20 year old kid.
These cars are all budget-friendly "track cars". They may have some precision about them, but none of them are going to blow away the other in terms of capability. That's why there was always the Evo vs STi battles... well, enter player 3. Each one is going to have its quirks, one will do better than the other in some category, and the other will just blow motors until you rip your freaking hair out... sorry, previous STi owner here too.
So, get whichever one you want. They'll all do the same thing.
If you want something that's going to feel better and compete better, get deeper pockets.

The problem with the RS is supply and demand. It's the only Ford I can think of that is built and imported from Germany, and there are very few of them. That's not to say it's a better car at all, but that there are more interested buyers than available cars right now.
