Stock Clutch Failed at 3400 miles
Stock Clutch Failed at 3400 miles
I just bought this car new back in May and the clutch is slipping terribly. I can't even drive it in the highway without it slipping. All I have done is an intake and an exhaust. Is it worth it to put it back to stock and take it to the dealer? Or should I just go with the spec 3+ clutch? I do want to build to around 500hp it after I pay it off but that's not going to be anytime soon so I would be content with a stock clutch replacement in the meantime but I'm not sure what to do at the moment...
You can't launch the car at all, It will only cause damage. The Evolution has a clutch delay valve or pill.
Cars that can be launched are the STi and Focus RS has launch mode but it's a weak drivetrain judging from the ST

So you smoked your clutch. Get an ACT HDSS or a Comp Clutch Stage 2. And stop launching the car.
If you want to able to launch the car you're going to need some form of a metallic clutch. The single disc puck clutches are a pain to drive, and the Exedy twin is expensive, but they'll last a lot longer.

As everyone already stated, stop launching. Now that you need a new clutch you might as well upgrade. Comp stage 2 or 3, ACT HDSS or something along those lines. You're lucky the only thing you broke is the clutch.
Got a chuckle out of this--the X clutches are notoriously weak...The less than 20 times statement had me smile as well, thats only once every 200 Miles of driving...for many of us , once a week! Ahhhh, youth.
