Modification

I own a 2013 Evo GSR, it was my lease and I just purchased the car. So I got another 5 years of payments, anyways, I want to do mods for it like, exhaust, exhaust manifold, intake, and E85, lowering springs. And I'm worried that I will have problems with the check engine light and blowing the motor and Trans. If I do any of these mods, will my above issues come true? I'm not a new driver or a real young driver. I know how to drive, I wouldn't push it every single time I'm in it. Trying to avoid having to buy a $18,000 trans. So any info would be helpful, thanks.

Done well / correctly nothing you're thinking of doing will cause issues. The trans for a GSR is more like $1,800 to rebuild than $18k. You can get up to about 400 lb-ft before you're going to have to start worrying. Just do some searches on the forums to look at options for power mods. Lot's of proven combinations.

Just contact 5150 in your area, tell them your goals, and either modify your car or leave it 100% stock and enjoy it as it sits. You may be sick of the car at the end of your lease, so why modify at all really? Just put in a drop in filter and call it a day. Car is pretty quick stock.

If you just have to modify it, take it to a pro shop that knows the EVO so you don't blow it up, that simple. 5150 is in your area and are really highly regarded in the EVO scene.

Definitely talk to 5150 and skip the exhaust manifold with the stock turbo!

Yea if you're really going E85, you may as well upgrade the turbo IMO.. The stock turbo can run out of room pretty quick on the X.

But yea, like everyone said, call a good shop like 5150 and get some quotes.

The engine can always be blown, even stock.. It mainly depends on the way you're going to drive it and the tune that you get. Just don't drive the car like a crazy person.. But the Evo can def take the mods that you want.
