SMOG and thinking of going back to stock

Hi All,

I'm due for a SMOG check soon and wanted some feedback in going back to stock(purchased the car recently with these on).

2010 MR Touring w 28k mi

Currently the car has the following full bolt ons:
Cobb Up/lower Intercooler Pipe
AMS downpipe
Cobb Test Pipe
Cobb Exhaust
Protune with accessport

I'm contemplating on going back to stock and my question is if i reinstall the Stock Down Pipe and Cobb test pipe and revert back the protune to stock would i be okay running with running this way?

Another way to put it is am i okay with running the stock tune with the aftermarket up/lower intercooler pipe?

Why are you going to do all that work reinstalling stock components for a smog check when you have an accessport?

I would just put the stock cat on for visual and baby it to the smog shop. I don't think they'd give you a hard time for IC piping and exhaust. Probably won't even notice the AMS DP. Leave your tune alone. As long as you don't have a CEL and have the stock cat on the car I don't really see you having an issue.

Reasons for going back to stock

1) I'd prefer to put it back to stock and not worry about this every 2 years.

2) I want the tranny to last longer

3) I don't want/have stock upper lower intercooler pipe.

Instead of starting another thread I thought I ask in here. First shop did visual and failed it because of mods. Car is now my brother and he told me they said it's because of the 3port and CAT because it only has one catalytic.

Looking for a mod friendly shop in the San Diego area. The car should pass as it passed before. Here are the mods,

Buschur IC
Uscher Upper Pipe
Migen Exhuast
Test Pipe (no name on my excel list)
O2 Dump Pipe (no name on my excel list)
Grimspeed 3 port
Walbro 255
AEM intake
Tuning done by Alfred at Tuning Tech (already contacted for advice)

If you are running a test pipe that means you have no Cat. Unless you get some kind of a hook up you won't pass smog in California without a cat. If they notice the 02 dump that will also be a problem.

I'm skeptical they failed because of a 3-port. What reasoning could they give for that?

If they notice that it is a "mod" then they failed it. 3-port and intake are the only parts in the engine. The other was my exhaust. I don't have the original parts and am looking around to buy oem ones to replace.

I don't see how a 3 port affect smog on car. Anyway, I just switched to a 3 port. Here's my oem with 56k miles on it if you want to borrow it to pass smog. But you have to put the cat back. No way a test pipe passes.

This is from my Evo 9. Not sure if the Evo X uses the same controller.

I've asked my brother to take the car to another shop. But he's already having the CAT put back in and requested the carb sticker for the intake. The 3port should be ok unless they are **** about whatever not being original parts. That's what I think the first shop was like.

if they notice its not a stock part, its a fail without a CARB number. Hiding things in plain sight is a good tactic. Make it look like a stock part.
